Would you call every war the usa gets into an unjust war? Was the barbary wars cruel to those african pirates? Was ww2 cruel to the germans and Japanese?

America for its entirety has been cut off from the old world. Meaning that a heavy investment in a navy was needed for protection. When you have a large navy it suddenly gets alot easier to involve yourself in conflicts. Since is not happening right next to your border.

The need for a Navy !== the need to use the Navy to wage war unnecessarily. Same goes for all branches of the military

Just saying the navy is probably the most important thing to have to wage international war. As little fame as it gets now, since we dont have an enemy naval competitor.

Or would you like china to grow its navy and take over the entire south pacific? Because I remember flipping the bird to china by sailing through their disputed waters.

The american navy helps the world of commerce by waving it's big stick to belligerent countries that think they can bully their neighbors.

There's an excellent South Park episode about pirates!

Not those types of pirates. The barbary coast is near europe. They would take the crew and sell them as slaves. It was the entire reason why the new usa started an actual good navy.

The people in power in the US aren't exactly good people. They haven't been for years at this point. Many, if not all, of our well known politicians are directly motivated by greed rather than the betterment of any one thing.

The Vietnam war was supposed to be used to stop the spread of Communism. These days, it's remembered more for the protests *against* it than what it was actually started for. (Because, let's be real, it was a horrible decision.)

The war in Afghanistan was justifiable but should have ended long ago. The war should have ended whenever I was a child; when Bin Laden was killed. Yet it was drawn out for another decade.

These two wars are controversial even amongst people in the US. Yet we keep electing people who seem less intelligent than the average IIN user to run our country. (I'm not exclusively speaking about the President here either. Seriously, how the fuck did some of our senators get elected?)

These days, it's largely thanks to the Military-Industrial Complex. War is good for business, if America stopped going to war how could they justify the need to spend billions of Dollars on their arms to the Congress?

in only 8% of human history has the world not been at war. this is not an issue exclusive to the united states itself, but humanity as a whole.
