Why is it that nothing i do makes me happy?

Ill hang out with my friends, or do something i like, or even take a walk ojtside, or listen to my favorite music, legit anything like that and i dont feel happy after. I dont feel *sad,* really, just more empty i suppose?

Personally I feel like jail and poverty cured my depression. Nothing worse than being locked in a cage or living without air conditioning for years in the south. When you start appreciating the small things like freedom to get in a car and drive where ever whenever or press a button and the air cools around you it puts things in perspective.

Id be curious to see the depression rate of ppl who come to America from 3rd world countries. Its gotta be nearly 0.

It's called depression. I have the same. Well i've never been diagnosed with depression but a constant feeling of emptiness and a difficulty experiencing happy emotions, tend to mean you're depressed. I suggest therapy. They'll probably try to just put you on antidepressants because it's easier, but insist on therapy before taking "the easy route". Antidepressants only dims your emotions even further and has unpleasent side effects, they should be a last resort in my opinion.

Try alcohol, drugs or coffee to throw your emotions off balance so you have more highs and lows.

Apathy is a symptom of depression. It's not sadness. It's a total lack of enthusiasm for anything. Like an emptiness inside.

It is treatable. If you can afford it, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help. Some people can even recover without the use of medication. Discuss your specific circumstances with a qualified professional. This is an unhealthy state to be in. But sadly quite common among adults today. A lot of people suffer from various forms of depression. I pray you get better soon.
