Why do they do this

Most meetings are useless, same for phone calls. I hate both but phone calls are definietely worse. Anyhow.
I'll be e-mailing someone and they be like "this needs to be a phone call" and i'm like "fine" and then they call and it's literally like a 1 minute call with something they could've written in an e-mail like giving me an appointment or asking me two simple questions or something. Why are phone calls even still a thing? Most people dislike them anyways and writing a short e-mail with one or two lines takes a few seconds. Though I admit having to walk all the way to a meeting or pay for a bus back and forth if it's too far to walk to and then the meeting takes 5 minutes is much worse. You feel totally tricked and kind of angry. I don't know if it's because they're bored or something or they just think it's fun to fuck with peoples mental peace.

Some people, funnily enough, hate emails and texting when dealing with job related information.

My "Introduction to Communications" college course explained it far better than I ever could but it's essentially something that some people prefer voice or video due to the ability to gauge the other person's response. Other people are just less adept at comprehending emails or texts.

Then there's the other reason. It's possible your particular emailing style aggravates the other person.

Words are only about 10% of full communication; and by themselves can be easily misconstrued.

How they are said, tone of voice, inflection, spacing; along with body language and facial expression tell you so much more than words alone.

    Then there is touch...

Yes, some things need to be at least phone conversations.

Other things need to be at least video conference calls.

Certain things need to be in person.

I dont understand most meetings unless to discuss something with actual intent of solving it, or getting ideas out of people, etc.
