Why do people assign their child a gender at birth?

Thankfully many people are now moving away from that but there are so many sheep that still assign a gender to their child at birth and call it male or female when that is inherently wrong.

I think child abuse is not okay. Your child is human end of story they can decide when they start speaking what they want to be but to assign them a gender at birth is cruel and backwards. This is 2021 not medieval times.

Most people I know who are having children don't assign a gender and they don't support the sheepish gender reveal parties but you still have half the population still assigning their poor child a gender. Your child is a human not a toy that you get to call what YOU want it's about THEM and how do you even know they have a gender?

Why do you think more people stop with the assigning? I can't even talk to people who still do this like it's okay

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

    Hahahahaha

If theres a twat or a penis then boom I know the sex, gender and then automatically assume their sexual preferences in the future.
When they turn 18 they can do whatever the fuck they want.

I don't get where these people get their news or "science" from. Babies and children are universally known to be easily manipulated especially by their parents. By making your kid non gendered or sex you are intentionally making the child confused because a child cannot be expected to understand the magnitude of their decisions. Praising the behaviour makes it worse.

My parenting advice? Kids play with the toys they want to play with. Parents forcing toys onto kids and then projecting social justice nonsense into their squishy brains is only making cultists at this point. Since being non gendered or sexless is ABNORMAL, responsible parents and normal people wont conform to this thinking at all.

I'm a heterosexual woman, but I've honestly never really liked playing with baby dolls for instance. When I was a child I really LOVED my dinosaur books! I also really loved ballet for as long as I can remember, and have pretty much had little to no interest in team sports. I did go through a stage where I wanted to play baseball, but I think it was only because I wanted to be like my dad. When it was expressed to me that I would have to play softball with other girls I pretty much lost all interest in it. I think my worst nightmare would have been if I had had parents who wanted me to play soccer for instance, not to mention the fact that what's going on with the feet, and hips being turned inward is pretty much the polar opposite of what I had already developed in ballet. I was also into martial arts for a while, played flute in the marching band, enjoyed swimming and have always liked yoga! I think it's fair to say that my interests have been neither entirely feminine, or masculine. My biggest regret is that I was never any good at gymnastics.

I'm glad that I was able to like what I liked, and it was never a really big deal one way, or another.

One thing is for sure, I'm really glad that I wasn't raised in a fundamentalist Christian family, and forced to be homeschooled, but homeschooling children in order to indoctrinate them wasn't a big thing when I was growing up at all.

I haven't been one of those women who had very strong maternal instincts to have children. I think for most of my life my maternal instincts have always been centered on domestic animals as pets. All my life I haven't ever had a really huge interest in babies, in fact if I'm at a party, and there's a little baby on one side of the room, and a dog, and or cat on the other I just naturally gravitate towards the animal if it's friendly. I think it upset my ex when we went to a party, and I didn't pay lot of attention to a baby that was there. Also I didn't want to be an imposition on the people with the tiny baby, so I wasn't trying to get up in there faces, and fawn over the baby either.

Okay, that's it for my rant.

I played with ALL the toys I could! I liked anything from Barbies to dinosaurs to non-gendered toys. I will say that I typically played with the "girl toys", but I feel every kid should experience playing with the baby doll kind of toys to teach them care and nurture.

Even if you subscribe to the idea they are seperate thing, anyone with half a brain realize that a persons sex is based on parts not how they feel. Please do not procreate. We don't need more retards who can not care for their kids properly. Which leaves the children becoming the caregiver. That is really the problamatic thing here.

You said only half the population "assigns genders" but in reality its more around 99.9999% of the population that "assigns genders". You just call them he or she. Not everything needs to be reinvented.

If that child turns out to be the 0.03% of the population with gender disphoria they can transition then. But forcing this narrative of gender disphoria on a child is child abuse to me. You are forcing your narrative on them. If they dont like their gender when theyre older they can change but you shouldn't pretend sex doesnt exist and dress a boy in skirts and shit

Someone citing a precise percentage for something as contentious as this always makes me suspicious that the number has been pulled from their ass, so I either dismiss it or do a little Googling.

In this case, I Googled, and it seems that your 0.03% figure is probably too high. Various credible sources acknowledge that the data is open to question, but it's estimated at 0.005% to 0.014% of natal males, and 0.002% to 0.003% of natal females have gender dysphoria. So the number you cite is probably around one order of magnitude too high.

I have a little suggestion that's analogous to the changes the OP believes should occur:

Something like 4% of the general population is red-green colour blind, so that condition is probably close to a hundred times more prevalent than gender dysphoria. Since it's impossible to know if a very young child is colour blind, parents should never assume that their child can distinguish between red and green, they should never mention the colours red or green (or any shade of them) when speaking to their kids, and everybody should assume that everyone they meet is red-green colour blind until the person explicitly states otherwise.

Oh, and every traffic light in the world should be changed so that the inability to distinguish between red and green doesn't create a safety hazard, and every culture in the world needs to make a conscious shift away from red being the universal signal of danger.

If the baby has a penis it's a boy.

If the baby has a vagina it's a girl.

  • Tingles18

Well, I mean, when a baby is born, the sex needs to be definitely assigned. If it has female privates, it's most of the time female. If it has male privates, it's most of the time male.
And the reason why I say "most of the time" instead of "always" is because, well, sometimes there are cases when the child is intersexual, but these cases are extremely rare.

There's a difference between sex and gender: sex is anatomical and gender is non-anatomical.

I'd say that the sex needs to be assigned when a baby is born.

I am intersex still born with a penis.

Intersex people are MORE likely to reject transgenderism than the average pop. We are naturally attuned to what gender we were. Hell I identified as male throughout my life even when I had critically low testosterone.

Its hyper rare to not be able to immediately determine the babies sex. If it's up in air a simple dna/chromosome test is all you need.

People like you are a part of the problem... They scream inequality, or sexism, racism, etc... and because of them, nowadays it's somehow bad for boys to be boys and girls to be girls.
So schools have to have special lessons to teach children they "Don't have to be what they are now and it's ok for a boy to be a girl and vice-versa" and teaching them about the 5000 genders that exist in the minds of idiots.

Children are impressionable and are guided by their parents. It's NATURAL and NORMAL to raise a boy as a boy/ girl as a girl and once they hit 18, they can decide what they want to be.
But if you start raising a normal child as a neutral-gendered thing, or worse... force them to be something they are not, you'll just fuck up their life forever.

I was born male, raised as a boy and now I'm a straight man, did my mom and dad raise me wrong? Did they affect me negatively by giving me a male name, toy cars to play with and no girly clothes? I think they did a fantastic job.

If they had raised me as a neutral-gendered thing, I would probably have psychological issues, be unsure of everything and my life would be an absolute train wreck.

I'm raising my future children the way nature intended. If me and my girlfriend/ future wife have a son - we are raising him to be a man! If we have a daughter, we are raising her to be a woman! And nobody can tell us otherwise, or force any PC nonsense on us.

Looks like just the gender/sex itself not the reveal. Reveals are stupid but not to the extreme levels of ignorance someone must have had to list their child as sexless.

The reason why it's not that common anymore is that those parents that do are subject harrassment by the general public. Like this one family gets social services called on them monthly because of how they treat thier genderless children and the public sees it as objectively child abuse.
