Why do i scratch my blanket?

I am 18 years old and ever my whole life I have had this blanket, and up until recently I realized that I have this habit of scratching the side in only one spot. Its worn down and the seem has come out and I find myself scratching it every single day. I'm not exactly sure why I do it. When I go to bed, I have to have that blanket and I have to scratch it. I dont constantly think about it but I'm just wondering

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I’m 26 and also sleep with the blanket I’ve had forever. I run my fingers over the edges in a certain way and scratch at the seams.

Everybody has sensations and habits that are especially soothing. If you’re autistic (I am) it gets called a stim, but everyone has them to a certain extent.
