Why did my friend act weird about me liking my crush?

I was talking to one of my girl friends the other day and we were talking about each other's crushes. I was talking about how cute mine was, and my guy friend who happened to walk up said "Who!?" like he was really concerned. I told him who I was talking about, but he didn't know him, so I said I had a picture. He said "Show me!" and took a good look, and just said "He's okay." I'm not sure why he acted so concerned about it. We're not super close, but talk a lot when we see each other.
