Why are people so nostalgic for the past?

I seemed to notice alot of people seem to be nostalgic for the past. I see alot of memes about it. Do people just want a simpler time before social media and all of this nonsense? I mean I think it's crazy. I know today is not perfect but I just don't get why people are soo nostalgic for the past.

i think you answered your own question... it's best to move forward, but remembering is nice... as long as you don't worship it, i think we're all gonna be okay...

Yeah getting banned for something you did off social media was unheard of. Now you do something thats not even illegal and twitter bans you because they dont like it.

Man even the internet was better back in the day. I could go on and on about how cool the internet was from 1996 to about 2010. It slowly started to get more corporate and lost its soul. Then the nail in the coffin was when it got political. I remember when google didnt give a fuck who was in the whitehouse.

From my perspective it was a happier time before social media. People socialized a lot more and there didnt seem to be as much conflict about race or gender or whatever. You just lived in your own little town with your family and friends. One thing Ive also noticed was social anxiety was almost non existent before the internet atleast where I grew up. People were less awkward and ppl didnt take things as seriously.

I also get so nostalgic about diners I grew up eating at closing. Even the silly stuff like how Tennessee banned smoking indoors in 2007. I dont even smoke but it just was something nostalgic going into a restaurant and they asked "smoking or non smoking?". Also how rural middle Tennessee was in the 90s was really cool.

Because gates that were open to me before have now been closed simply for no fault of my own, just because a certain amount of time has passed. Yes, I wish I could die and be reborn a child again. Maybe then I will have a chance to find love.
