School and parents for me. School explained the basic biology and changes, parents gave me the typical Mormon "this is why it's reserved for married couples" thing.

I really feel that something got left out. Particularly how addictive porn is... 21yo man, been dealing with this since jr high, still trying to clean it out of my system.

    I learned about it at school. They taught us about it like once a year from grades 4-12.

    My parents are very socially liberal and I knew I could ask questions about anything, but as far as getting "the talk" they failed pretty hard. Just embarrassment I suppose. Fortunately there's the internet, so I knew more about sex than they did (theory if not practice) in short order.

    If you're Mormon, I'd imagine there's lot left out, as with any religion.

    Porn is not real. There is a lot of info nowadays, what with the internet. Just look for a non shit site.

    IIN would be an example of a shit site for info about sex. Or just about anything.

      Heh, true. Was curious about how most people learned tho. I'm unaware of any good sources tho and well, last time I went looking for info I wound up on a porn binge again. I know most people don't see a problem but you do if you can't last a week without fapping.

      Seriously, if they don't want someone doing porn they should warn about how addictive it is, then I'd have at least tried to actively avoid it...

        Once a week is excessive to you? Oh dear :( that's really not excessive for a male. But then, I guess if you're religious, you feel differently. I don't mean to tell you not to be religious...but religion is very, very good at making people feel guilt about their bodies and normal urges.

          Well I'm doing better than I used to. I decided I NEEDED to cut back when I realized I was using porn every night. At the worst, twice daily. Plus the porn led me to some... unnatural attractions that no girlfriend can satisfy. Or boyfriend, I guess. Either way, I need to clean it out of my system and the only way to do that is to abstain long enough for me to forget this attraction. Religious or not that's a problem. I'd like to not be sexually attracted to a pixelated 'toon with unrealistic anatomy thank you very much.

            Ah my bad I misread. I read it as saying masturbating more than once a week was a problem, but you meant masturbating using porn as an aide too often is a problem? Or am I still misreading?

            Yeah. It does set up completely unrealistic expectations. I don't really know what the solution is, because porn's never really been an interest for me. Sorry :/

              's fine. No worries. Yeah, I meant something between the two, but it was me who wasn't communicating clearly. The problem is that I had been using porn often (nightly at one point) which became a legit problem. Nowadays, my record for staying porn free is a month and a half, but I can't stop masturbating for much more than a week, and usually when I do I start thinking about the porn. Though sometimes I don't even fantasize which might be even weirder...? I dunno. I don't know anything about it. But I do know that it seems like if I let my mind wander at all when I'm alone my dick takes control. I can't even hit the snooze button on the alarm clock because I'll jerk off morning wood without even thinking about it.

              I don't care how often normal people masturbate. I'm not just trying to keep a religious vow, I'm trying to learn some self control.

        A) I didn't think I needed to mention this but my thing was comic porn. Of the furry sort.

        B) I'm fairly certain most women would rather have a little more say than what I've seen of "legit" porn.
