Meds like ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen(the NSAIDs) can cause kidney damage when taken daily for a long period of time, this is called analgesic nephropathy.

When paracetamol is taken in excess(od) it can cause death by liver failure.

The safest pain killers are the opiates(morphine, codeine, oxycodone etc).

    • Dont forget that it's much worse when taken with alcohol or by people who drink regularly.

I cant say that I'm sure of the accuracy of this point, but I've read that more people die from tylenol use every year than alcohol poisoning. I'll see if I can look it up somewhere.

Yes absolutely. In heavy drinkers the maximum dose of paracetamol they may safely take is reduced (perhaps half the daily allowed dose of non alcoholics)

Higher doses of pain killers such as naproxen, ibuprofen, and aspirin can be harmful for kidneys. If you already have reduced kidney function, consult your physician before taking these medications.

Aspirin's problem is blood thinning, causes stroke long term use of. Not for pregnant women either.

Things like ibuprofen or anything with acetaminophen will destroy your liver with long term use. Ibuprofen, hydrocodone I don't know about aspirin. Over the counter anti-inflammatory works great but use in moderation and only for short periods.
