Idk I usually make mental notes of things they’ve said they liked/wanted throughout the year. if it’s someone who doesn’t really care about gifts I’ll get them something useful to their hobbies or food. or I’ll just straight up ask what people want but it’s usually better like a month in advance so they kinda forget they told you

it depends on what they like, ask them what their hobbies are/what they like to do and buy a gift revolving around that

I like getting stuff I need because then I dont need to use my own money.
It's also nice to get something that shows someone has been paying attention. Like an ex of mine had put on his memory that early on in our relationship I mentioned this band once and how amazing they are i'd love to see them sometime. Then months later on my birthday he'd gotten us tickets to see them.
I did not see that coming and it almost made me the most happy that he actually remembered stuff I said even if it was a while back and I only said it once in bypass.
