Imagine one day, there ceased to be government. No police, no laws, no regulations. No congress, no president, no governors or mayors, no IRS, no Homeland Security, no army, Marines, no driver's license requirements, etc.
Everyone is on his own. What would the U.S. look like?
There will ALWAYS be a government and leaders. The most that can happen is existing govt can be overthrown and replaced by a new one. Its the same for every country.
Strong-arm gangs would immediately take control of all of these roles. Just like how it is anyway

There is no draft, there is a partial mobilization of 300k military veterans in the reserve. That means people who have already trained, served, and had already signed into a military reservation deal.
It is the equivalent to your military reservists.
If you're referring to the United States Federal government, we would be speaking Chinese in the West and Russian in the East. Because the primary role of the federal government is to protect the United States.
You would eventually see a new government take over. Whether it be one developed by the people themselves or a foreign power seizing the opportunity, government would eventually form.
Famine, near extinction (~99% dead) and then rebirth of the country from the wild west era.

I have no idea really. Maybe a contemporary version of the wild west? I've always thought that deep down the average american is like a cowboy.
I'd love it!!! Except I'm not in the US. No laws means I can love whoever I want with no consequence!!!
Whoever could gain control over weapons and food supply would probably just form a new government. It wouldnt last long.
If there was abandoned military bases with equipment you'd have people fighting to get control of it so they can take power.
I'm thinking about one of my old hometowns. The local gangs would probably take over and people would never be allowed to own anything nice. XD
