My boyfriend and I are going to go to the movie theater to see the new Dragon Ball Super Hero movie today. I've been a fan of the Dragon Ball series since I was like, 11. I'm 33 and Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, and all the rest of the characters will always have a place in my heart.
What's your opinion of Dragon Ball?

It was one of my first animes as a kid, so I'm biased, but it's basically the best thing that's ever been on television. It's got all the old tropes. Buff, manly, yet-somehow-still-the-underdog heroes sacrifice themselves to save Earth from evil. It's a simple thing, but it's fun, family-friendly, filled with action, and not caught up in the broad list of tropes American cartoons have to check off these days.
Not that I've watched a single episode of it past Buu saga. Great memories, though. Also managed to be substantially less weird and more straightforward than virtually every other anime in existence, then and now.
I remember when it aired in USA when I was a kid, never saw anything like it & loved it/action anime ever since.
How the fuck can anyone find that show interesting? I tried watching it, but after I realized that a single fight can literally span an entire season and every single story arc ultimately comes down "I'm strongest man in world. Oh no, new strongest man in world come to challenge. Fight. Rise and repeat"
Boring.
What's with the characters in mid air in a desert landscape that looks the same in every episode? Sweating, showing teeth and saying something like "you're going to pay for this" or "you won't get away with this". Why do these characters take so long to fight? I don't understand why it's a popular anime. 🙄
I like the DBZ abridged series, made by team Four star. DBZ itself is shit.
I watched a few episodes of it as a kid. I remember not liking it all that much, but I certainly didn't hate it. It's just not my thing.
