What's the point of friends?

I don't have many friends and I think I can still live well without any. What's the point of having friends?

Weird that you automatically associate that with a mental illness.

Yes I’d say that’s a decent take. Either that or they’re just really, really dopey. So out of fairness I assumed the former.

          That's a horrible take.

Associate introversion with a mental illness does not seem like the greatest take.

Introvert doesn’t mean friendless. But I’d say autism is the more likely mental illness here.

I'd say no mental illness is the more likely here.

That’s not an introvert, plenty of them have friends 🤣

Yes, but there are also a lot of introverts who have little to no friends too.

Please, do not talk out of your ass if you're gonna speak on something. And even then, it still wouldn't mean they're mentally ill.

You don't need friends just like you don't need a romantic partner.

But having people in your life completely changes how you see it. If they're good friends and good people, it's probably going to be for the better.

My theme song is 'I Am A Rock' by Simon and Garfunkel and I live my life by this lyric from it:
'I have no need of friendship, friendship causes pain'.

When I think of how so called friends have turned out, I'd rather have my enemies. At least they don't pretend to like me.

It makes life feel more meaningful and enjoyable when you’re important and special to certain people and they are to you as well, and you can share experiences and conversation together. At least that’s how it was for me, when I had those kinds of friends.

    My thoughts exactly.

It seems like the only purpose of friends is status.

trust me, i feel you. i feel like i'm better off without friends, i like alone time and independency but if i dont have friends then i cling on to other people that i'm close with which makes them annoyed so idk.

I enjoy the conversation and company, mostly.

"For without friends no one would choose to live, though he had all other goods; even rich men and those in possession of office and of dominating power are thought to need friends most of all; for what is the use of such prosperity without the opportunity of beneficence, which is exercised chiefly and in its most laudable form towards friends? Or how can prosperity be guarded and preserved without friends?"

The point of friends to expose yourself to other people but more importantly they would have your back.
