What's the dumbest thing a person has ended a friendship with you over?

I've got a lot of dumb examples but if I had to pick one, it would probably be that time I wouldn't help with a line of credit for a brand new car. They wanted me to cosign and I said no. They practically had a suiicidal tantrum over it which made me double down on the my decision not to help them. The next day they send me a text telling me to never contact them again. From what I heard, they got their aunt to sign and then stopped paying after they quit their job several months later. I pretty much dodged a bullet there.

What about you?

My best friend from jr high for over 40 yrs called it quits before I couldn't go to his son's wedding even though I sent a $200 cash gift. We were in the middle of a major home remodel and just couldn't afford it. It was at a remote location which would've required us to fly several legs and stay at this pricey resort for several days. I thought it was chicken shit.

In junior high, my best friend had a friendship-ending meltdown because I made friends with another girl. Though she had many friends besides me, she didn't want me to have any other friends besides her. She had a friend who was also this way and hated me because she didn't want her friends to have any other friends besides her. I know it was just dumb and immature junior high drama, but even at that age I thought it was extremely bizarre to expect your friends to only be friends with you and no one else!

I also had a friend as a kid who was furious that I won a trophy at a horse show and she didn't (despite the fact that she had won several before and that was my first), and never spoke to me again after that, except to make a snide remark about my horse. 🤣 Her parents were equally sore losers about it sadly, so it was apparent that the apple didn't fall far from the tree and she had never had a good example set for her. Quite sad, really.

I've had a couple of friends (though not very close ones) just randomly quit speaking to me without any explanation, and I never did find out why. It was weird because there were no disagreements between us and everything was fine leading up to that, but oh well. 🤷‍♀️ Some people are just odd like that.

Trump. A LOT of my friends blocked me when they found out I voted for him

Talked to me about my politics. Aparently friendship with them required for me to agree with every single one of their topics. I agreed on 70% of them.

Damn, what a control freak. I don't mind if my friends agree with me on 0% of my political opinions, my rule is that as long as they're not a dick about it our differences don't bother me

I try to be 100% honest about shit. Hell not even my fiancee agrees with me 100% of the time.

If I sound like a dick. I'm just being brutally honest in my opinion.

I had one friend end our friendship because I didnt talk about sex all the time or made "dark jokes". All of a sudden those were things incredibly important to said friend for being able to enjoy a friendship. Quite shocking especially since I was such a supportive friend as my friend was going through something at the time. Said friend later got dumped by the new "fun" friends he had made. They only enjoyed having fun and he needed more than that which probably got lame for them who werent the types to be supportive and listen... Thats karma for you. My friend was a bit impressionable and desperate to be liked which probably explains the sudden wanting to be sexual and funny all the time, probably because the new friends were. No hard feelings though I just hope this former friend has some other genuine supportive friend left to talk to in hard times. He was often going through something.

I told a friend she looked like a woman from a series of car commercials and she blocked me from all her social medias and never spoke to me again. We had been quite close before that, too.

Wow! That's kinda crazy. People used to tell me that I looked like Janeane Garofalo, and I enjoyed it.

Why would she be offended by that comparison? Lydia's a really pretty woman

God knows. Maybe it was blunt and random? She lived for her Instagram account, had alot of followers and was used to unequivocal praise from her followers so perhaps it came off as jarring?
            It’s a real head scratcher
