Both uniqueness and talent because there's no point in imitating someone else and being someone you're not.

Surprised uniqueness got so few votes. If we're talking about mainstream music, you probably don't need much of either, just good lyrics or a catchy beat. A unique style is what makes someone really stand out from the crowd. The way they sing, the songs they sing, the way they look, the way they talk, etc. It doesn't matter how talented you are if your music blends seamlessly into everyone else's.

You need talent to get out the garage, sure, but you need uniqueness if you want to become an icon.

Definetly uniqueness. I much rather listen to semi-professional singer that has an unique accent, good stage performance, tone or style. We already have enough talented people performing the same "good" songs.

A caveman grunting into a tin can is unique too. Would you prefer that over mainstream music?

The worst is when they're unoriginal AND talentless

Half of mainstream “singers” are auto tuned anyway.

If you really are talented, your uniqueness will show.

Talent. By far and away: talent.

There's a reason why music of the same genre and era *mostly* sounds similar. It doesn't have to be unique to appeal to people.

I think talent and skill, though uniqueness can certainly be a good thing. I just dislike how every person "singing in cursive" in those TV singing competitions gets told they sound so unique when they sound the same as most of the other singers currently on the radio, so for the love of God, not "unique" in the whiny, breathy, affected, fake-accent-that-isn't-even-a-real-accent way! 🤣
