What happened to "soap"?

Is it normal that it frustrates me that you can no longer find regular soap in the shops?

All you see advertised these days is stuff like this:

"Come to Target now and get (place brand name here) body wash on 3 for 2. Made with Aloe Vera, Camomile and Lavender extracts, this is perfect to help your body's microbiome retain a balanced pH level, to reduce inflammation and irritation and leave you feeling clean. Alternatively, you could go and buy (place rival brand name here) but we reccommend you don't because you'll smell like a skunk's asshole!"

FUCK. OFF. What in the name of Cerberus the three headed dog who guards the gates of hell happened to bog-standard soap, which got rid of all the grease on your skin and that's it?

Oh and another thing. Who here learned what a "microbiome" is before they watched these shitty adverts? My guess would be no-one!

    My girlfriend introduced liquid soap into my house and we've never had to buy soap bars again. Hair sticks to them, they make a mess of the dish they sit in and supposedly have more bacteria on them.

    Also I never listen to adverts. I buy whatever I know is good, often at a discount. But I kinda get where you're going with this.

    Nowadays, adverts are way too pretentious... Soap's main purpose is to clean, not to moisturize, or raise your ph, or whatever...

    Be happy you haven't seen yogurt adverts in Europe. God I hate them!!!

        It's either that, with close ups of her eyes and her mouth as she eats and is pleasured onto cloud nine by the milky goodness. Or an overly happy family with 2 children, a labrador and they have a picturesque house in the Alps, overlooking pastures with perfectly cut CGI grass and it's always sunny. The woman is always the one to bring out the yogurt, being all playful/ semi-sexual about it and everyone else rejoices in ecstasy, because apparently not getting your daily yogurt fix leads to drug withdrawal XD

        It's like they are either trying to turn yogurt into some filthy fetish, or trying to sell us a fake Alps dream lifestyle... Either way, I hate it!

          Food ads in general are annoying though but yogurt is the worst.

    Bar soap is hard to come by because a lot of homosexual couples buy it up so they can play "pick up the soap" in the shower.

    I've been using hotel soaps that have amassed over 20+ years and 3 generations, just to get rid of it all. I started using them like last year and it's probably halfway through now. can't remember the last time I bought soap, but I just get the very basic, unscented even.

    I’m pretty sure there are more bars of soap on this planet now than ever before. Just buy Dove or something jeez. Even dollar stores have bars of soap like 6 for a dollar

    One i got a bad cut on my hand and the nurse told me to wash it with Ivory soap. He said most soaps have bullshit scents and moisturizers but Ivory was just original soap like the old stuff. Idk if its true but I've always used it since. Its the cheapest soap too.

    Yeah but body wash is actually better than soap. Just get the really cheap stuff and it will work fine.
