    The Mona Lisa is overrated

This is history's strangest painting, people still can't figure it out when it's simple: the painting doesn't make sense.

There's been a code of Leonardo da Vinci that European historians tried to decode, due to the famous backwards writing. Here's what you do: realise it's science and Leonardo's a scientist, and try to understand the truth he stated, which I think is pseudoscience because a real scientist uses simple, logical explanations for science and not written in cryptic.

I think everyone sort of knows that on some level

It wasnt even completed so I dont get why theres such a hubbub about it.

The more tasty information was it was given to his (extremely likely) gay sexual partner.

I saw David in Florence and he’s breathtaking. He has grace and tenderness but still has power.

lets all agree that surrealism s the best art form and Salvador Dali is the coolest

  • MONA LISA!!!!!!! I actually saw it in person and wow, it was breathtaking.

But we really need regulations on art. Do a line on a canvas and call it art, and I punch a line on your nose and call you a retard

I don't like your rigid hardline military attitude, if I wasn't in the military and shot a guy I could be put behind bars and if you do it it's because you save lives and expect honour. I suggest the artistry of long ago has been sold to the military and the military guards it lest a teenager draws a moustache on one of the paintings, am I right?

Chose the Sphinx just because I’m so tired of seeing art of humans.
Why would I want to see a painting of some dude ? I see people all day - show me a dragon or a wooly mammoth or something

Have you tried posing for art in the nude? Yeah, but what good is art? A work of beauty that nobody gives a shit about and nobody understands, thus writing has far more taste than this childish hobby.

I like kitschy, humorous and modern. I like some things with texture, layers, 3D and/or made of multiple materials. I like things with dual purpose of being handsome and functional. I also love advertising. I have a huge advertising collection, signs, clocks, lamps, promo items, all kinds of things.

Any art that is finely crafted and detailed. I don't like cubism, modern art, or paintings that look like someone threw a bucket of paint at the canvas.

Then you'll love Whistler's Mother, since it describes perfectly what you described.

Ever looked at the works by Adolf hitler? Hes far above those modern artists in skill. There needs to regulation in art again. Not everything is art. What we have today is what happens when you dilute the art culture with bullshit and tax schemes.

Never knew he painted... Checked out some of his works on google - they are beautiful.
The man knew how to paint, he could have been a great painter, if he hadn't chosen to be a dictator...

+1 on politics and tax schemes. That bullshit ruins everything.

Tax schemes? I suppose it's easy to tax a work of art, as it's easy to tax wine, the stimuli that mean something to us get taxed.

No I mean if you have a crappy art peice that's valued at 100,000$ by donating it to a museum you pay less taxes. These art peices are way, way overvalued.

For those who do not know the Colossus of Rhodes was the tallest statue ever constructed in the ancient world being 33 meters (the size of the statue of liberty) and it was built around 300 BC. It was destroyed by an earthquake and they never rebuilt it based on an oracles order.
