What age would you prefer to be officially retired by?

I have officially set my goal for age 79. I think if I ever lived to be 79 years old, I would definitely be done with work and would not feel any need to work past age 80?? What about yourself? If you had to “predict/forecast” what age you would be 100% legitimately retired, how old would you see yourself doing it?

95-100 0
65-70 8
Earlier than age 50 8
80-85 1
50-55 1
55-60 3
60-65 7
100 years old or older 0
90-95 0
85-90 1
70-75 0
75-80 1

Could always try something to make money from home, it could be the best of both worlds. If that's what she wants, though, I guess there isn't much room to argue. Just make sure you keep an eye on her health.

Is there a reason you can't work? I'm not against the housewife thing, but if she's overworked and you would like her to get more time off, going back into the workforce seems logical.

I want to retire by 40, but 50 is the deadline. I may or may not do that "financial independence" thing and do side gigs or whatever, but if I'm still working a wage job at 60, I will have utterly and completely failed.

I think the questions then becomes when do you think she should retire.

In my current job...tomorrow. However that isn't possible. If I truly enjoy the work, and it's something like running my own business, then 70-75 is about right.

I think 60-65 works well with the west. You should let people enjoy their golden years, but at the same time we aren't having enough kids to support them.

If the economy is doing decent by the time im 55 I should be able to comfortably retire if I stay on the same path im on.
