What advice can you give me about moving?

Background info: to make a long story short, my family is moving next month. We’ve already looked at the house a few times and it seems good, but there’s a lot of bittersweetness surrounding the whole situation. I’m only 18 years old, and I’ve lived in my current house my entire life. There’s a lot of hardship related to change, and even some other family members feel the same. One one hand, I’m excited about something new in my life, on the other, I’m trying to get used to saying goodbye. What advice do you have?

FIRST THING :: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER say "Goodbye". That's like saying you will never see them again. I have worked as a mover for just over 10 years I think. Saying goodbye is like you are cutting ties and moving on. There's always the possibility you will see each other again. I would say "see you later" or just simply say "take care" etc. Now the actual move, when you start packing you will realize you have a lot more stuff than you thought. If you lived there all your life and you could leave without getting emotional, then I would worry about you. But just be sure to keep in touch with your best friends. As for packing, been there done that. I can't go to work anymore since I'm now deemed legally blind.

There is nothing to say that you can't keep in touch.

We moved a lot when I was young. 2 years here 3 years there longest was 6 years. It was unsettling. I feel what you going through. But that's life. There will be a lot more changes as life goes by. Consider this a dry run.
