What’s good first time mountain bike brand?

Looking for a bicycle or a mountain bike of some kind to be able to get to and from around where I live? As far as brands and stuff, do you know which mountain bike brand is a good brand to start out with for your first time? I have about 500 or 600 to put down so any bike brand within that price range would be helpful!! Thank you!

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

What type of terrain are you going to be using it on? If you're in a city I would recommend something with thin tires. City bikes are made to be lightweight and less of
a workout if you're just trying to use it as transportation.

I have a Trek and a Kent I picked up last year. I like them. Just have to upgrade the seats. They suck.

I second this. Trek seat was the one complaint I had

I use to have a trek for years. I would do wheelies with it. I once did a wheelie for 5 miles lol. Id tap the brake if I was going too far back. It was really fun.

But treks are built really well i had tried to do it with walmart bikes but the rims on the tires would bend too easy or the brake line would snap. It was always something with them Im glad I went with trek. I had a friend who had a specialized he loved it too. The specialized bikes look better.

We had bigworm tires on our bikes so we could do wheelies in circles and shit.

Thanks! I’ll look into Trek as a possible brand to recognize when I’m at the bike shop! Going to bike shop next week so I will hopefully have my mind made up by next week?

Are you gonna actually mountain bike or use it on the road?

Probably on the road. I live in kind of a “downtown area”…….A lot of sidewalks and streets mostly. Not much need for riding up steep dirt hills or anything???

Can you mind your own business? Like I said, if you have nothing useful to say, I will just toss your advice right out the window. Thanks for not being helpful today. You lost.
