To rinse or not to rinse? that is the question

To rinse, or not to rinse, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the teeth to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fluoride,
Or to take brushes against a sea of cavities
And by opposing end them. To brush—to teeth
No more; and by teeth to say we end
The dentures.

To rinse, yay! 13
To rinse, nay! 5

To rinse or not? To rinse, that is the question.

Beholdeth! the arrows of our foes shatt'r 'gainst our walls, and their sw'rds bended at our shields.
This war is ripe f'r us to taketh, unless the mak'r drowneth our flu'ride seals.

Rinse? As in when/after brushing? Or between brushes?

If you mean after brushing, it seems a no brainer. How else you gonna get that excess toothpaste out? I only use a blob about a pea size or less, and it foams the fuck up. Most people seem to slather it on...

Between brushes? Maybe sometimes. I prefer xylitol gum or an apple.

I was told cheese is a good thing to stop acidity attacking teeth - piece of cheese at the end of the meal, calcium, I don't remember exactly, this was like...10 years ago now. But I think that'd leave you feeling furry toothed :/

A rinse a day keeps the dentist away. No?

I think this only matters if you don't have fluoridated tap water.

Yeah- shoot us an e-mail if you still have my address or brett's.

I'm so glad to hear you guys are still together & making it work. The distance is a bitch.

Not quite yet, but getting close! We got held up a bit by paperwork & life stuff, but i'm headed to new zeland in december so we can turn in the last bit of visa stuff & hopefully the decision won't take too long.

We were up around st kilda recently & it made me think of you!

I love to get "fluorided up!"

Better to not rise, since then the fluoride remains in contact with your teeth for longer and has more chances to bond to the enamel.

When I saw your title, I thought you might be a Brit talking about washing dishes. Lots of people here have the habit of washing dishes in soapy water and then putting them directly into the drying rack. Rationally, I know a trace of detergent and a few microscopic food particles on the dishes isn't going to do any harm, so maybe it's just a OCD of me, but I think that's nasty.

    • That's so gross! I've been there and was a bit weirded out by some hygienic habits of the Brits.

      I can't stand that shit.

But I'm ridiculously germaphobic when it comes to washing dishes.

I've also used non fluoride toothpaste for about ten years now, and filter my water, but my teeth are fine, even after not going to a dentist for six years (I wasn't proud of that :/)

Not advocating a no fluoride fanaticism. I still get fluorided up at dental visits.
Just...I'm not convinced that fluoride is that vital unless you have a...deficiency I guess?

Screw dental crap. You can wash the infection out of a rotten tooth with salty water and vodka. They just want to collect money to pull your teeth and half a tooth is better than no tooth. Dentists are criminals.

    • The vodka is just for the numbing effect so they pull all your teeth out, right?

nah the salt draws out the infection from the abscessed tooth and the vodka sterelizes it. You can use listerine too but then you can't drink it.
