Should fat people be forced to pay higher taxes?

All the health risks involved by being fat and lazy is a great burden to our medical community and a drain from the tax bowl. Fat people are just lazy and they know that eating them fried chickens will harm them. They bloat the free clinics with their medical dramas and always have pathetic excuses as to why they are fat. Its not fair that I am healthy and don't need diabetes checkups and medication from a free clinic but yet I pay the same taxes as these fat lazy POS. Then they have five kids who all turn out fat to causing more stress on our governments and medical?

    Tax unhealthy food instead.

You can't say who's genetically obese and who isn't.

Libertarian here. If you are fat dont expect to be taken care of by the public. You are free to eat garbage bloat up to 400 pounds and die at 36. That's beautiful to me the absolute freedom to die of your choices.

Congratulations, you've just put your finger on the one of the many problems with socialized medicine and socialism in general: the more cautious, responsible, productive, healthy in life pay for the most reckless, laziest, and least able. In this particular case, the one who does everything to stay healthy pays for the junkie.

Yeah but where does it end? People can choose to do all sorts of things that aren't good for their health. Being fat is just one of many. Lack of sleep is extremely bad for your health, as is being underweight or drinking too much coffee.

I also feel annoyed when you hear about massive fatties taking up all that time from the health service but an awful lot of people end up doing the same thing for other self inflicted reasons.

Search up "Metabo Law". In Japan they have already implemented measures to assess the waistline of people aged 45+ and tax them accordingly.

So to answer your question, if you want to live under this law, you can already do that in Japan. They've been doing it for a little over 10 years now.

I think we need to tackle our obesity crisis as well and Japan is a fairly good model albeit with our own resources.

Japan has a record low of children bearing in the last decade. I think you may be referring to China and they had tried that. I wish the U.S. would set a limit on how many children can be beared instead.

  • The body-positivity movement is such a load of crap. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about being 500 pounds if you can help it. And if you say anything to the contrary, you are "body shaming". I guess one could accuse every doctor worth his word of body shaming, then. There is no reason whatsoever for anyone to have all that extra blubber on their bodies, and that's that.

      • LOL, Jabba at the end.

Sure, blame the scale for the numbers you see on it. That's like blaming the speedometer for showing you're 30 over the limit when you drive by a cop on the highway.

    • There are some fat admin workers that don't need food stamps. I see what you mean, most police are overweight and us tax payers pay them. Maybe they should have some of their pay deducted.

        • Some politician would probably use it to pay for a helicopter ride to his expensive prostitutes motel/hotel. Oh, and the tax man has to fork the bill for the night stayed in motel and also mr politician is not paying the lady of the night out of his own pocket. Right it off as a business expense.
