Serious question: is it normal to get ptsd without physical damage?

I just wanna know if my therapist is a scamming liar or not. Other people on venting website say to me that therapists are brainwashing people and I should self-care myself.

I don't understand my therapist still, after months that we spoke. How the fuck do I get PTSD from shit on the internet? All PTSD victims has been in wars, car accidents, kidnapped, sexually assaulted, etc. And here is me, who thought I was tough enough to take the harassment, gets this same shitty diagnosis as others who have been in much worse situations.

I just feel goddamn guilty.

(I did make that "is it normal to have multiple personalities?" post but I should've asked this question)

You don’t get PTSD from the internet. At all. If I remember that post properly, I think everyone was just being nice.

    • Thanks for the answer.

Do you meant the replies were being nice on my older post or something about my story?

I voted normal because you can get PTSD from non-physical stuff, but your therapist sounds like a quack. Seriously? From the internet... s/he sounds fucking awful.

You can get PTSD from any traumatic experience, it's not exclusive to wars and catastrophic events.

Hmmm I saw a clip once of Jordan Peterson saying that one can even give ptsd to themselves through committing actions that they thought they’d be incapable of. So it is probably quite possible.

Maybe you're being brainwashed into believing all therapist brainwash their patients? Some do, good ones don't.

And of course trauma isn't always caused by something physical:
some people have PSTD from witnessing traumatic events which didn't physically harm them.

Yes, in my heroin days I wrecked alot of cars. And I experienced waking up from a quick nod and at a decent rate of speed with a car directly infront of me with it at a dead stop at a redlight or whatever, and I knew in that instance that I fucked up and theres no way to stop the car in time. I never really got hurt. But to this day when I'm riding with someone and I look up and theres a car slowing down or stopped infront of me im like "LOOK OUT!!!"

i def have something like PTSD from kt

    • Damn, I feel sorry. I think my question was a bit confusing. When I am being cyberbullied, I am in no risk of physical harm. It is only my feelings get hurt emotionally. For you, you were in a great risk of a car accident so you probably do have PTSD from it but get a diagnosis from a medical professional if it is affecting how you live everyday.
