Question for gay christians

So ... this has bothered me for a while now.

Why do gay believers think God approves of their choice? If you read the Bible it never approves of homosexuality. References to romantic relationships are always between biological men and women.

For instance in Sodom (where the word sodomites comes from) an angel literally pulled Lot and his family out of the city and God burnt it to a crisp.

In the New testament homosexuality is listed multiple times with theft, adultery, murder, etc as a sin that will condemn you.

The justifications that I keep hearing is that God loves everyone and gay people don't have a choice, that they're born that way. God does love everyone but he hates sin and will deny sinners from heaven. This is the point of repentance and forgiveness... If you keep on sinning God still loves you but he can't admit you into heaven since he's holy.

Regarding the born this way argument, I don't agree with that. I believe that it's a combination of nature (empathetic and insecure) and nurture (judgemental environment, deep seated trauma) that manifests in a perverted sense of self.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I'm not gay but back when I used to believe in Christianity I didn't take the Bible too seriously, it was written by people after all and most of it has been proven to have not happened. I don't think Jesus ever mentioned homosexuality, I'm sure it was mainly that psychopath Leviticus. I believed in God and Jesus but thought everything else was highly distorted over time. Besides there's lots of self-contradiction in the Bible so if you want to be Christian you're forced to choose what you want to believe anyway. And a all-wise, all-knowing god that sees nothing wrong with homosexuality makes much more sense than a god who hates it for no reason.

Everything in the bible was written by people. Stuff like the animals sacrificed to god got eaten by the priests (people who wrote the rule in the first place)

The bible says a lot of things about sex for any other reason than reproduction being bad, pulling out is bad too. Birth control is bad.

I think this is because naturally sex is fun and children are fucking awful, but this stuff was written in a time where there was a huge advantage to your group having a large population. "Be fruitful and multiply" stuff. If you make it so everyone thinks they're going to hell if they have sex and take any precautions to avoid pregnancy, you're going to have a lot more babies being born.

  • I think they rationalize that the part of the bible that says all that stuff about homosexuality was just there because of a majority opinion that homosexuality is wrong

One of my things with religions is why stop there when thinking about what was fabricated

You also have people indoctrinated into religion who later realize they're gay who still want to incorporate both worlds into their life

An argument that I've heard is the really stupid idea that the Bible never mentions homosexuality and that we've been mistranslating it the entire time. The idea of someone thinking that is absolutely insane.

Did you know the Bible explicitly mentions human sacrifice? I think you would be a good sacrificial candidate. Yes!, you have my support.

It does explicitly mention human sacrifice. However, almost every time it mentions it, it's mentioning it to say, "Don't do that."
        Examples:
"Neither let there be found among you any one that shall expiate his son or daughter, making them to pass through the fire: or that consulteth soothsayers, or observeth dreams and omens, neither let there be any wizard," -Deuteronomy 18;10
"Thou shalt not give any of thy seed to be consecrated to the idol Moloch, nor defile the name of thy God: I am the Lord." -Leviticus 18;21
"And they have built the high places of Topeth, which is in the valley of the son of Ennom, to burn their sons, and their daughters in the fire: which I commanded not, nor thought on in my heart." -Jeremias 7;31

Well my my my, aren't you just a clueless bastard. I was thinking about the butchery of Jesus of Nazareth the star of the show. I suppose you could die a senseless death like he did, and crazed people would commemorate your death with pizza and beer every week.

I am not going to participate. Senseless drama, bullshit symbolism, twisted thinking are for people that need to be told what to think. Tell your friends to eat their pizza, drink their beer and leave people who understand critical thinking alone. Just listening to you causes nausea.

Jesus was not a human sacrifice in the way most people think of when they hear "human sacrifice." He was a human, and he was sacrificed. However, he was not sacrificed for the purposes of appeasing a deity. Technically, he was sentenced to death for blasphemy. He was killed to appease an angry Jewish crowd. I am not being told what to think any more than you are being told what to think. You have been told what to think by everyone around you, and so have I. We have simply been told different things and understood similar things in different ways.

Yes, good point. We can get a Jewish crowd angry with you and sacrifice you to their God of Vengeance. Are you still interested?

Homosexuality is most definitely NOT a choice. Believe me when I tell you that. Do you know how many kids wish and pray that they weren’t gay? Growing up, I hated feeling different. You have no idea how horrifying it is to realize you’re not “normal”. Then have your “church” tell you that your “God” hates you because of something you did not choose, you don’t want, and would want nothing more to be fixed. Instead your going to burn in hell because you’re different. Then to have a “church” suggest those Christian brainwashing camps where they try to make gay kids straight, which fails 100% of the time. It just tells kids that God made you incorrectly and you’re bad. It’s no wonder so many of them end up killing themselves.

I didn’t want to like other boys. I remember my first crush, it was on a boy in my grade. I was 6. I had a crush on him for 6 years until I was 12 years old. That’s when I was told that liking other boys was somehow wrong by my minister. I asked him to explain it to me and of course, his go to passage was Leviticus. I grew up hating who I truly was on the inside and pretending to be somebody else on the outside. All while being molested by my half-brother because he found out I liked boys, so this was my punishment, I guess. Which only made me hate the fact that I was gay even more. Even into my 20’s I kept forcing myself to sleep with women because I kept telling myself it would go away because I had people like you telling me it was a “phase, my environment, or my upbringing”. When in reality all I was doing was slowly killing myself inside. Until the inside met the outside and I attempted to take my own life. So do you think I still CHOOSE to be gay? I CHOOSE to put myself through all of this torment and personal mental anguish? When it would’ve been just so much easier to change my mind and CHOOSE to be straight now? I would’ve LOVED to be straight! I still would. It would make my life SOOOO much easier. But life isn’t supposed to be easy, is it?

Yes it does state in Leviticus 18:22 “Thou shalt not lie in bed with a man as he lies with a woman” and your argument saying God will not allow a sinner into heaven is all nonsensical.

As stated before, the Bible was written by people. Now if homosexuality was in one of the 10 commandments, it’d be a slightly different story. But anything beyond those commandments and there you have people changing the true word of the Lord.

As far as sins go, wearing clothing of mixed fabrics is a sin. Eating pork is a sin, having sex out of wedlock is a sin, masturbation is a sin, I can sit here an name off a bunch of sins that I’m sure you commit on a daily basis. Does this mean you yourself are inadmissible to heaven? You’re sinning right now! “Judge not lest ye be judged.”

Do you follow the rituals of uncleanliness while menstruating? Everything you touch is to remain unclean until evening and you yourself must leave your house. Again, as said before, most of these articles that were placed in the Bible were done so basically to enforce certain rules for humanity to survive. They needed the nations to populate. After all, wars were being fought, people were dying from disease and famine, and infants were just slaughtered by some tyrant nut job king. So they really couldn’t have homosexuality or how else could they repopulate. Because if the gays weren’t forced to copulate with the females, along with the straight men who just couldn’t stand women, because the gender can be nothing short of infuriating, then how could they populate the lands?

In those days, for those who followed God, Moses and then Jesus, the Bible acted as the book of laws for the people. It was a simplistic hierarchy. You followed the Book of God and then the laws of the land. If the land you lived in had no laws, then who’s laws would you follow? It would be an easier, more simplistic way to make any/all populations complicit.

Also, Christ died on the cross to pay for all of man’s sins. He knew that humans are imperfect beings and are incapable of living without sin. So is evident when Jesus went to the mount of Olives. “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone.”

In conclusion, the Bible was written by people, then compiled by an entirely different set of people. In fact, there is a committee that actually chooses what all goes into the Bible. Haven’t you ever found it strange that there are so many different translations? Because in reality, there is no way to directly translate the Bible’s original text. It was written in a language that cannot be directly translated into English. In fact, In 1611 the KJV (King James Version) of the Bible was translated from the RT (Received Text); it is also referred to as the AV "Authorized Version". Most modern English Bible translations today use the corrupted CT (Critical Text) which removes or alters pivotal verses. This is successively weakening the church.

Finally, homosexuality is completely natural. It occurs in many wild species and weren’t we told that God created & loves all his creatures? Remember, Christ said, “For it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than the rich to enter the gates of heaven.”

So yes, I advocate for homosexuality. It’s normal, it’s natural and you can still be a devout Christian, and YES, still enter the gates of heaven and be gay. For we ALL must answer for our sins on judgement day and no sin is greater than another. Your sin for judging me is the same sin as me sucking dick, in God’s eyes.
