Normal to feel sick after seeing slaughterhouse video?

There was a news article about a slaughterhouse where they were not stunning sheep correctly and they were still conscious while getting their throats slit open, and the news article had a video showing it. Now I feel so sickened after watching it. I cannot understand how those people that worked there could do that and not check to see if they were unconscious first. What are some of your thoughts on this?

Poor sheep! I'm not a vegetarian, but this is one of those things that makes me think twice. It's stuff like this that makes people stop eating meat.

The people were probably afraid of loosing their minimum wage jobs. So, they continued with their atrocities.

People that work in slaughter houses probably feel bad and maybe get grossed out but over time, sometimes a short time, they get conditioned to it all and end up that it's just a job.

More people ought to see that shit! It's real. :-(
Who the hell do they get to do that? These people must have some serious mental health issues, or they're just sociopaths, or very twisted individuals that lack all empathy.

I'm not stupid. I know that some animals have to eat meat. Okay, people eat meat. Yeah, food chain, predator/prey, blah blah....but goddammit, if you're gonna eat meat, I guess, you ought to do the hunting yourself, or get the meat from a reputable source. Don't just take their word for it! Do I think people are going to go to any length to do this? No. This world is a shithole of hell. You just got a glimpse of true reality. It's fucking savage hell.

My brother had trouble sleeping after watching them, but he still eats meat anyway because he likes it.

    • I'll keep eating meat too. I have no problem with slaughterhouses as long as the animals are unconscious when getting their throats slit and die before regaining consciousness. As long as their's no suffering.

I want a foam chop fed to my dogs. They would enjoy that.

      • I didn't realize there was a lot of lamb meat in dog food.

sheep are raised for the wool industry the meat is called mutton and is seldom consumed by man. i suspect most of it goes into expensive dog food. the meaty ones that contain little corn products. when man is done eating meat the dog food will still contain mutton and mutton by products so going vegan will not help the sheep at all. second and most important i had a look at the video , " only because im more intelligent than most" what i saw was lambs being destroyed long before any wool potential was realized,in short they are culling the excess wool production. so by not buying wool you are sending lambs to the slaughter. if the market for wool could jump no lambs would be culled. the method of lamb execution was in fact cutting its throat typically the same way muslims execute christian adults and children throughout the middle east. stranger still is much like the human execution the man was playing with his cell phone while putting down the lamb. I find that ironic.

    • In the pig slaughterhouse video, when the pigs got stunned and then got their throats cut open, they squirmed and kicked pretty hard. I thought that meant that the pain of getting their throats cut was so unbearable that it woke them out of their unconsciousness and they suffered, the unbearable pain made them kick and squirm. Then, one of the workers explained that the squirming and kicking was due to involuntary muscle spasms from suddenly losing a ton of blood, and that the pigs were still unconscious, felt absolutely nothing, and were 100% unaware of getting their throats slit and spasming. In other words, their brains went out before their bodies did, from the moment they got stunned, that was the end of their conscious awareness.
The horrible sheep video was a different story. The workers didn't stun them properly and they were still conscious and suffering the horrible pain, blood loss, and spasms from their throats getting cut open. It's terrible.
With both the pigs and sheep, they said it took about 5 to 7 minutes for them to die after getting their throats cut.

No one is feeling it getting their throat slit. You are dead before the adrenaline wears off.

    • I hope so, I cannot handle the thought of those animals suffering. I always thought they were stunned unconscious before getting slit and didn't feel or know anything, and died well before the unconsciousness from the stunner wore off. Other slaughterhouse videos I'd seen showed that they were unconscious, the only reason I watched those videos is because I was just really hoping to see that they were not suffering. Then in one video, I saw pigs continue to kick and squirm when their throats were cut even after they were stunned, and I got worried that it meant that they felt the agony of it, but then I learned that it was all involuntary muscle spasms and they were still unconscious and unaware of what was happening, and felt relieved. But then I saw the disturbing video I described in my post.

I get it. I love animals. I would never harm one. Animals are no diff from us tho. Imagine walking down the street and someone comes from behind and cuts your jugular deep enough to kill you? You wouldnt feel it. You'd be dead.

The liberal left wankers put this shit out to scare you. They deliberately make it look gross. I have seen thousands of sheep slaughtered. Of course we don't give them sleeping pills or stun guns first.

Dont worry. The animals dont feel it.

Fuck those assholes who make videos like that are more sadistic than anything and then they pretend to care after scaring the fuck out of you.

        They arent normal.

It always amazes me that right wing conservative quacks are fine with inflicting this much pain and suffering on living, breathing animals but they scream from the rooftop if you peacefully remove a fetus that can't feel anything and has no idea what's happening to it, since it's not a living thing, from a person that doesn't want it in them.

Seriously, just read that post again. The argument here is that it's not normal to feel compassion for other living things. We're dealing with sociopaths here.

Only an idiot would describe abortions as peaceful. In fact a lot of times creates pain and damage to the mother. Abortions are done in several ways but none can be described as peaceful. You can put a chemical which burns the fetus alive, you can tear it apart piece by piece after which you crush its skull, you can swirl a stick around and basically scramble the fetus like an egg. What if we strapped you to a bed and slowly pulled off all your limbs, then you explain how peaceful you think it is.

Feeding yourself is not sociopathic is human nature.

            • I'm surprised the sheep slaughterhouse video was in America. Eating lamb is not that big a thing in the U.S. Most American slaughterhouses are cows, pigs, or chickens. Americans eat and American stores sell beef, pork, and chicken much more than lamb.

          • Yes. There are a lot of sociopaths in the world. For abortions, I'm not comfortable with the idea of any woman getting one anywhere past about a month after conception, which is definitely sooner than the 28 week period where women have gotten one.

        • You're right, the sheep may not even feel it even without the stun gun. All the squirming and kicking I guess may just be the involuntary muscle spasms which automatically happen when they suddenly lose a lot of blood.

Go on, cut your pinkie finger. Slice it. Tell me if you feel that, or not.

Involuntary muscle spasms? LOL! Uh, well, the creature is doing just as you would do. It's cells are desperatly trying to survive, breathe, get oxygen to cells. But, that just got all fucked up.

        • Yeah. I see what you're saying. I'm still gonna remain a meat eater, I've obviously known since I was a little kid, and everybody obviously knows while they're eating their steak, chicken, pork chops, bacon, or lamb chops that they're eating an animal that was slaughtered, and most people don't care, aside from vegetarians. I'm just bothered about if the stunning didn't work and they felt it and suffered, but I see what you're saying about why they posted the news article and video about it.
