My mother and i never run fevers why?

Hi, I have searched everywhere with no results, and this is causing many issues in terms of recieving medical diagnoses. I am 17, and have never run a fever in my life, even with repeated severe ear infections as a baby that resulted in me getting tubes in my ears at 6 months due to my eardrums rupturing. No fever with the flu, sinus infections, strep... Nothing. My mother, who is 40, is the same way. She even ruptured her appendix as a child and showed no fever, causing the doctors to take forever to diagnose her. Even my maternal grandmother is the same way! Today, I have a UTI and no fever. I told the doc that I do not run fevers, and he looked at me like, "yeah right." I need answers, and this condition is causing my mother, my grandmother and I issues.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

It probably means your body is more harmed by infection. A fever is ykur body's way of killing the virus or bacteria harming you. Without a natural defences, I imagine other aspects of illness would be exacerbated. It is baffling. I wonder if you all have a rare genetic autoimmune disorder.

I am glad you found a doctor who believes you. Trust is an important factor in doctor/patient relationships. I hope you find answers.

Maybe? However, my immune system seems to fight stuff off just fine and in the usual timespan of said illness. Due to it clearly being hereditary along my maternal line through the women, it is quite possible that it is indeed some kind of genetic anomaly - maybe never documented before.
As for my pediatrician, I have until May 27th that I can go to her. Then, I have the basic doctors, as I would be 18 on the aforementioned date.

I've done both! Even the one doc who believes me is baffled, and that was my pediatrician before I switched over to the typical doc.

Some people don't get fevers as easily and just because you have a serious condition such as ear infection you don't always get a fever. I never get fevers either even when i've had really bad cases of the flu or sinusitis. Last time I did I had strep throat and with that I had high fever with chills one night, then it went down and I didn't get anymore fevers even though I was so sick I ended up needing antibiotics.

That's the thing, though! I have NEVER run a fever! EVER.

There were instances of being misdiagnosed due to the lack of a fever with my mom (one was her appendix - they thought she just had very bad cramps until they finally got a scan done.) I do not want any issues in terms of doctor's visits in the future, and despite my searching high and low, I have come up empty handed.

If you live in a first world country it would be in your medical records which are shared. It's easy enough to make people aware of. I wouldn't stress on it too much.
