My first ever best friend

When I was 5 years old I made friends with a girl who lived in our building. She was watching me play through the window and threw a drawing out the window that was for me apparently and that was our first interaction. When we both started school I used to walk there everyday almost with her and her dad but we couldn't play together in school because we weren't in the same class unfortunately. One springday she took me aside and told me her and her family was going to go on a trip to their home country over the summer and after this I never saw her again. After they had left I mean. I only remember her first name... I still wonder sometimes what happened and where she is today and wish there was a way to find out. is it normal to wonder about this and to remember our friendship so vividly as an adult?

My first friend was an albino boy named Logan, we met in kindergarten. 5 year old thought he was a vampire with his pasty white skin & red eyes.

I wouldn't be so sure. You'd be surprised what people remember and who they occasionally think about.

I don't even think it would hurt to reach out if someone had the opportunity and wanted to. The worst that person could do is block further communication, and then, what have you lost?

Yes, very normal! I still wonder about my childhood friends I haven't seen in close to 20 years sometimes.

Do you have any yearbooks from back then? Maybe you could find her full name and look her up on social media.

I used to have a best friend named Yoshifumi, we were friends since we were young, young me thought he looked so weird because of how he looked like it was probably because I had never seen an East Asian dude. I have lost contact with him since.
