My first black eye

Today I received my first black eye from a pathetic little scratch. My vision is fine but I look like I’ve been socked in the face by a muscle-bound leather-clad biker with a handlebar moustache. My introduction for the next two weeks will have to be “You should’ve seen the other guy”.

Is 25 old for your first black eye? Vote normal if you think so.

  • That's pretty good honestly. I got in a few fights in grade school. As well as the fact my friends and I used to play full contact every sport growing up. I've had more black eyes than I care to think about. Might explain some of my thinking.

  • Nah, it's not too old for a black eye. I doubt anyone that sees you is going to think that.

  • I only know a few people who had black eyes & only 1 of them had 1 in their 20's. All of them got theirs from accidents. As for me.
I'm 27 & never had 1 despite peoples best efforts.

  • Had my nose broken once and both my eyes were black. Looked awful.

  • Oh yeah that’s considered ancient where I come from. We played British bulldog as 6 year olds which, if you’re not familiar with, the only rules are to stand in a line facing a team on the other side standing in a line, and run at each other, full pelt. Ever seen Mel gibsons gladiator? That kinda sums it up, but replace Scots and Brits with 6 year olds and you get the picture

    • Ah, that game was the stuff of legend by the time I entered primary school. I remember teachers insisting we weren’t to play it but I don’t think any of us actually knew what it was, I used to wonder if it meant pretending to be bulldogs and biting each-other. Maybe if I’d been born a few years earlier this wouldn’t be my first black eye.

      • Yeah I wouldn’t have thought it responsible supervision of children for it to survive past the early 90s when people started to care about the physical welfare of kids lol
