Is there a way to cut and build lean muscle simultaneously?

i've been working out for about 4 years now. .and my posture and muscle size improved radically. but i noticed that i am accumulating belly fat. .which i hate. most people tell me that it is just part of the bulking process but i hate it still. my diet includes low fat, low carb lean proteins and lots of veggies. .i also incorporate cardio twice a week. so is there any way to cut and build lean muscle at the same time? ive heard about 'calorie deficit' . .to make your body use that stored fat as a fuel source. . .is it true?

Starving yourself will not lead to increase in muscle while losing fat. You might lose a little bit of fat by doing that, but it will not be a lot.

Some people even say that if you starve yourself of calories, your body actually adjusts by retaining MORE fat because it realizes that it needs to store more for energy since it is not getting as much as it wants (as suggested in an above comment). That is why sometimes you see really overweight people trying to lose weight, and all they do is try to eat low calories and salads and stuff, and yet they are still overweight. That is probably why.

I will say that I have seen some people have results with a "No carb" diet. No bread, pasta.. anything like that at all. But I'm not sure if you will be able to build muscle while doing that. A diet alone will not get you a tight mid section.

I think the best way to do what you are looking to do is to workout about 5 times a week if you can, do a lot of bodyweight stuff (push ups, pull ups, burpees, dips), do high intensity cardio for shorter periods of time... like sprints for example, and drink a ton of water. At least a gallon per day. As far as diet, I think as long as you have a generally balanced diet, you can get the results you want. 3 well balanced meals per day should be fine.

Also, if it's mainly the belly fat that's bothering you, do a ton of sit ups. In fact, just look up an ab routine and find one that looks good. Do that like 2-3 times a week at the end of a workout or something. But I wouldn't suggest doing too many weighted sit ups or weighted anything for your abs, because it might encourage mass in that area, which you don't want. A little bit of that might be good though.

I'm not a fitness expert, but based on what you're looking to do, this is what I would think makes sense.

You remind me a lot of myself. You need to realize that diet is everything, and that you need to track your calories. Drink coffee, skip breakfast and push back lunch a little each day. Intermittent fasting will allow you to eat well under 2000.

It does. I knew a lot of former anorexic and bulimic people that are obese now because of what they did to themselves.

If you drink coffee you shouldn't be hungry in the morning. The caffeine is also great as a pre-workout supplement. Unless you get light-headed, there shouldn't be a problem.
