Is it normal to want to be a politician

I am often told politics makes you evil, but it is my passion. I don't know what to do with myself and now I think I should just go into politics but I am not sure.

Edit:God y'all think I want power? I have a desire to change the world to benifit humanity. Yikes.

No, every citizen should have the same level of political involvement.

Being aware and being weary of those in power constantly? Yep that's where I am.

It's normal to become a politician if you actually want to change things for the better.

    What would u run as?

My father was city planner in my town growing up. He moved to be city manager in another town. Now he's county commissioner. He is going to receive a good government retirement for his "service" and he has all kinds of connections to lawyers, cops and judges. Its not all that bad really.

Politics doesn't automatically make you evil. I think a lot of people who are enmeshed in political circles and know all of the "right" people are sometimes evil. They have been raised to be that way. You see this a lot in America and the UK, for example. People who have the right Daddy and know all the big wigs and scratch each other's backs in exchange for destroying another little piece of the world without any worry of retribution. But this isn't ALL politicians. Some politicians are normal people who decide to try and bring about change. The change could be as simple as trying to get investment for more cycle lanes, or campaigning to keep a school open. I don't think anyone would call those people evil, and equally if those people end up with a certain amount of power it doesn't automatically mean they will become evil. Some politicians seem ok to me.

Going into politics because you can't think of anything better to do with your life is a bad idea. I don't know where you live, but it's clear that a good portion of the problems that the United Kingdom has are due to there being a 'political class': politicians who were born into a political or at least a managerial-level family, did a degree in politics, went to work for a politician or political party after graduation, eventually were elected to the House of Commons and then went on to become a government minister in charge of running a governmental department. These people have no comprehension of what life is like for ordinary people - particularly those at the bottom of the heap - and very little or no experience in the world of real work.

Some politicians are in it for the money, the fame, the power to control ordinary people and because their minions have to kowtow to them. Many of them are somewhere on the psychopathic spectrum, so they'll lie, cheat and steal if they believe it will help their career and feel no guilt about that. Politicians like that are part of the reason we don't live in a better world.

Other politicians get into politics because they're fanatics. They have a very narrow view of what's right and wrong, are incapable of seeing shades of grey and believe that anyone who doesn't agree with them on everything is evil. They're so convinced that their vision of how the world should be is correct in every detail that they're incapable of considering the possibility that they might be wrong and they're unwilling to even try to see problems from another's perspective. For them, compromise is surrender, and their self-image is brittle that changing their opinion one thing would call into question everything they believe in, and they fear that would make them see their whole life is based on false premises. Those are the politicians that can totally screw up life up for ordinary people.

The best politicians have a coherent view of how things could change to make the world a better, happier place for the greatest number of people, they're humble enough to accept that they might be wrong about some things and they're intelligent enough to realise that compromise is always necessary and progress is always a matter of small steps in the right direction.

It does look fun having all the power and being able to do whatever you want to people but as you’re in the limelight, your mistakes will be closely watched and you will be held accountable.
