Is it normal to wake up in blood (period)?

This morning I woke up, literally in a pool of blood. I'm 25. It was definitely my period but there was just so much. I looked like I'd been stabbed. Never had that much. It was up my stomach and pooling at my hips. Was not pregnant. Can confirm that. I know this post is super gross. But it also costs a lot to see a doctor where I am. Just want to know if any other women have ever had this. Is it normal?

EDIT- Managed to get a doctors appointment same day by getting an advance on my pay. So other girls know - not normal, probably due to a hormone imbalance in my case, getting it sorted.

And if people are wondering why I wasn't wearing a pad - I do track my periods and it wasn't due for a week yet...

You had to get an advance on your pay to see a doctor? I guess you're in the usa where you don't have that terrible thing you call socialized medicine.

In the U.S., you can't be lame. A $70 hemoglobin test meter is far cheaper than a $500 doctor appointment. Yes, DIY medicine is an inferior alternative, but with Internet medical references, and cheap medical equipment available directly from China, hopefully you can live longer than a third world life expectancy. You can start by googling "possible causes of heavy menstrual bleeding". And, buy a bottle of iron pills.

  • Sounds like your insides liquefied and started pouring out through your pussy. No, that's not normal. Go see doctor.

Periods are all different and ever changing. You should get a little planner, mark in a calendar or I'm sure they even an app for it by now, and just keep track. If things get worse or you feel something is wrong, head to an ER. Keep in mind that you're still losing that much blood so eat irons and such things.

I did. Periods change constantly. Their dates... flows.. I've never heard of anyone, not on birth control, that their monthly is consistent.

I've got a pretty normal flow, and most people I know do, too. It's not generally the same week of every month or anything like that, but my period tracker has an option for a notification a few days before my period is due and it's almost always accurate. I've only had a handful of surprise periods happening before the notification.

I don't get periods, but despite the cost, you should see a doctor.
