Is it normal to think that the wage gap isnt real?

I mean it simply isn't plus there are laws that prevent it and if you see a company with a wage gap you can simply report it.

Well, the gap does technically exist... but it's based on the entire population. In 2018 PayScale reported a 21% difference on average.

However, I can only speak from my own experience, but every entry-level job I've seen pays men and women the same amount, and I've also had female co-workers who've told me how much they make, and it was more then I made, as a guy. So, it definitely varies.
From what I've seen, women in the same job, who have been working there for the same length of time as their male counterparts, tend to make the same or a similar amount of money, sometimes more.

It's difficult to pin down the exact reason why there's a 21% gap in the overall populace, then... perhaps male-dominated professions are simply riskier jobs, which naturally pay higher wages because of those risks?
Or perhaps there is some unspoken sexism from some bosses and they don't give women promotions quite as often...

There's no real way of knowing the truth, the important thing is, it's something that women can change for themselves. The system isn't pushing them down (at least not more-so than anybody else).
