Is it normal to refuse moral religions and religions from books?

These religious nerds are full of shit, book learning! Religion shouldn't be about learning, it should be practices without scriptures. It's ironic that learning religious lessons is stupid, we're not here to learn or learn lessons, or learn moral lessons (whether religious or not), we're here to accept God in our lives and we don't learn this from the textbooks. Do you know why books are shit? Because they lie, they make mistakes, are even out of date. I read books, I just don't read the scriptures. Morals are a load of frog shit, you know why? Because it's doing as you're told, it's a control game. Do you think food is clean because your book said so? Do you think morals are good? Shut up! Religion should be freedom and any moral religion, or moral-legal code, is false! It's plain gullible, wake up! Is this normal?

Taoism's got a pretty decent book, as 'holy' books go.
It's basically just saying don't be a dick, respect your fellow humans, try and see situations from other people's view, and err. don't be a dick!
Short and to the point.. No metaphors, fables or gods!

OP's use of the word 'scriptures' makes me think they've never considered there are other books than Christian out there. I was suggesting they check out some better books than scriptures before writing off all written moral instructions!

No, I meant your paraphrasing of the tao. I agree it says those things but that isn't what the book is about.

U can tell by my completely unwarranted negative tone that I have not internalized the message of the tao

Religion is about what man says god is saying. open bi le to random page and start doing what is says. U will be in jail by end of the day. Good morals don't require religion - in fact, likely more moral the less religious u are

You seem to misunderstand religion or are using the word to describe something different

    • Religions all write their own book, if it was the scriptures people rely on only that to know religion, but religion isn't all in the books, churches teach you things you won't find in the Bible. Christian Science has its own book which is sensible because it's different, but if it was all in Mary Baker Eddy's book, it's false! Catholicism has its own book and it's not the Bible.

Churches will tell you things that have nothing to do with belief. Remember churches rely on donations. They will tell you what ever they need to to keep those pews and baskets full.

Not every religion relies on a single book for it's established dogma. Try reading books from other sources. Non-Western religions and philosophies. And you don't have to pick just one religion.
