Is it normal to overthink yourself into becoming sad and depressed?

lately I overthink and confuse myself to the point where my mind is a mess. This then leads to me being sad and depressed (also feeling hopeless). It wheres off later but its happening frequently more and more,
so I wanna know if this is a thing or not? or ifs there some way to stop doing this?

    If its happening more and more frequently, leaving you to feel hopeless, depressed, or just empty a lot, then you should get help from a psychologist/therapist. Trust me, your mental health is important. I currently am recovering from mental health issues.
