Is it normal to not want to go to prom with my ex

She broke up with me about 2 weeks ago and said we didn’t have much in common and it didn’t make sense to be together. I didn’t inquire further but I think that definitely isn’t the reason. She still wants to go to prom as friends. She try’s to reach out and interact with me all the time but I don’t want to reciprocate that with her and so far it’s resulted in me being an ass to her and I’ve apologized about it but she belittles me with constant insults about it. I don’t know what to think about it all. If you have anything to say about this I would appreciate it if you could express your thoughts or opinions in the comments. thank you very much :)

It doesn't really matter who you go with anyway. But if shes asking you to go with her after she dumped you that means shes using you as her rebound guy so she doesnt look like a loser.

Find another girl to take to prom. The ex wants to still go so that she can show her friends that she can still manipulate you and you will do what she wants. She is all about showing off and appearances. Let her find another ride to the prom. HELL if I was in youeplace, I would take my sister to the prom before I take the ex.

A bunch of years ago my then gf and I got into an argument. I told her "You are the most egotistical self centered materialistic "what can you do for ME "fuck you bitch I ever met". She agreed with me. There is others out there that would go to prom with you even if you were in a t shirt and shorts. Cut her loose.

I wouldn't go to prom with someone who just broke up with me. Sounds a bit like she's using you. She could have been decent and waited the 2 weeks and gotten prom out of the way before the break up, but she didn't.
That's how sure she is that she doesn't need to treat you well to get what she wants.

She may also just genuinely want to be friends but it's not fair to force that on you straight away, you need space from the relationship. Being friends should come later after you've both well and truly moved on, if at all.

Is there anyone else you can ask? I would definitely try and go with someone else if I could, even if the other person is just a friend.

  In all honesty I should probably further inquire as to why she wanted to end things in the first place as she clearly told me a half truth at best to further understand her side. Sadly no there is no one who I could ask, I don’t know many females.

Sounds like she's trying to use you for a prom date tbh. Also its so stupid to throw insults when your trying to be friends with someone. Why risk the chance of possibly getting into an argument or having tension at prom with her? Go with friends or go alone

Why would anyone want to have the biggest movie-cliché high school date with their ex?

To me it sounds like she realised after breaking up that she didn’t want to look bad by showing up to prom without a date.

Just say no, she made her bed she can lay in it. Everyone just takes selfies and dances with their friends at prom anyway from what I’ve heard.
