Is it normal to make a doc's appointment when suspecting you're overweight?

The fish-eating diet isn't enough, only Dr Wurm whom unfortunately I have to see is an expert on how I can eat when overweight despite himself overweight. I was concerned about cholesterol, trans fats, acid, sugar, diabetes, etc, and I made an appointment which is on Wednesday 1st of May 2019 this year so I'm taking action, I know of no science that can help me to lose weight and I have a constant stomach ache, aching bones (including an aching collar bone, an aching leg bone), this is a concern because I feel I won't live to 123 years if I keep this up, I tried everything to prolong my life, but think of it this way: do you think a meat-based diet, eggs, and poultry will prolong your life? My answer is it all depends, but all the GPs, which is what Dr Wurm is, will tell you to eat fish, and when he tells me what to eat I'll eat it, I'll make no excuses, nor say to him I'm pesco-vegan, I'll just do what he says, is any of this normal?

It's really annoying when fat doctors lecture you about your weight.

Anyway, did he not say anything about fruit, vegetables and pulses? I bet you already know how to eat healthily. You know what's good for you and what's bad for you.

Maybe you'd be better off speaking to a dietician. Medical doctors, although experts in health, don't actually spend much time learning about nutrition in diet unless it's something very relevant to the specialism they end up in. GP isn't one of those specialisms.

'It's really annoying when fat doctors lecture you about your weight."

It would be like if MY doctor were talking to Sarah Jessica Parker about having a horse face. Yeah my doctor has a damn horse face.

My doctor wanted me to talk to some dietician. Yeah WTF ever, like I am going to eat healthy, screw that.

The problem is I'm a bit overweight and couldn't lose the weight on my own, but I'll take your word for it, partially on that diet of mine, pesco-vegan sounds to me like it's quite sensible, thanks for the advice mate! And by the way fish, veg, fruit, grains, pulses, that's right it's the fructans that are the problem, so thanks!

Ive last almost 30 pounds now in the past few months. I do a mix between a ketogenic diet and a Mediterranean diet. People who eat Mediterranean diets have the longest life expectancy despite being poor!

Idk if the diet is what helped me lose weight, or cutting out all carbs, but I also will not eat my first meal until 6pm every day. The first few days it was hard and now its easy. I dont even get hungry anymore.

So you made up your own diet? I'm not sure, but I think a ketogenic/Mediterranean diet combination will be a good start to weight loss.

Not really. Keto just means close to zero carbs. That means no sugar and no fruit (no carbs either). This causes your body to run off of fat instead of sugar. They have these strips that you can test your piss with to tell you when you're in ketosis. When you're in ketosis your body is running off fat.

You could be a vegan on a keto diet really. Everyone does keto different. Some people eat almost only meat on it too.

And most of those fussy eaters won't even eat their vegetables, they're fat people :O

Im confused a bit, but I do help people lose weight for money on occasion, so here goes my 2 cents.

Ask your doctor about caloric guidlines based on your activity, ht, wt, age and body composition. Then just count every single calorie you eat, they have apps for that. You should eat serveral hundted calroies a day below your maintince that your doctor estimates for you. And when yoh sustain this caloric deficit, your body will burn fat. And losing fat makes you healthier in many, many ways. Start there mate! Eat less calories!

It works, but it ain't the magic potion that some people claim. Most people eat way to many carbs to begin with, so of fucking course cutting out carbs will help you loose weight! But when people tell me to do it, when I am about building muscle, I'm like "stfu"

Theres no point in going strictlyy keto if you arent trying to lose weight. Unless you're trying it for depression or TBI. It was originally created to help epileptic kids have less seizures. Its amazing what keto does to your mind. Your mind gets real sharp.

That sounds good, but everyone's telling me to eat my vegetables, and mind you vegetables are a carbohydrate, it's carbs like salt and sugar that's the problem, not a steamed broccoli!

Yes mate! Absolutely right! When I say most people overeat carbs, I am not talking about veggies. The caloric desnsity of veggies is so low, they are almost always a healthy choice. I am eating some right now actually!

Brilliant mate! Then I think a normal diet of vegetables and meat, or a fad diet by your doctor, is good for your health. Does anyone care about the cabbage soup diet? Have you heard of it?
