Is it normal to like being the servant to a dog

My dog likes to go outside about every hour, no more than two hours 24 hours a day. I wake up at 1, 3, 5am to take her out or take her for a walk if she wants it. As soon as I come home she demands I feed her and give her attention, so of course I have too. If I go shopping I get scared because I know she's gonna be mad at me for leaving for so long.

Not normal. You're supposed to be the owner.

That dogs health will suffer. Your suppose to lead, command, and take care of it.

    • I do take care of her, she eats good and we go for walks all the time. She's happy. But sometimes I'm not because I get tire sometimes. I only sleep maybe 2 hours at a time before I have to wake up and let her out. Then I have to wait until she comes back, but sometimes she wants to go for a walk so I have to rush out and get back so I can sleep a little bit more.

My dogs ate once a day with a light snack in between meals, pooped once at the same time everyday. They never bothered me during my sleep. Walk time was set at the same time everyday. I disciplined them as needed when they were pups, and grew to be well behaved dogs.

Training is the key, and you can't be afraid to get loud with them and give em a smack on the ass with rolled newspaper. They learn quick and you'll both be happier.

  • Tonight I bought leftovers home from my moms house. But I couldn't eat it because she smelled it and made me give it to her, I just can't say no...she's just too cute. What can I do?

It's time for you to get some therapy.

You're letting her be the pack leader!?

You need to have the willpower to say no to your own dog. It's fine to love your pets, but don't let them rule you like this. Spoilt dogs can end up with really bad health due to things like overfeeding (which is a huge problem, and most people don't even realise it because it "makes them happy"),and will probably end up being really poorly trained because they grow used to getting anything they want. It sounds like you might end up with problems if you literally can't sleep enough because you're tending to your dog all the time.

    • Yeah she does seem to eat a lot now. I buy the best food for her maybe around 100 per week in food but she just eats and eats. I think she is just stressed out because we moved. She's old now maybe 14 years old so I don't want to make her suffer more.

I've seen stress eating in a lot of dogs, and it might be a thing of boredom. Has she got toys and the like to keep her occupied? Different dog breeds need more attention and exercise, as well, so if they're the type that needs a lot of walking then that may have an impact on how often/long she needs to be walked or be outside to run around.
The thing with a lot of dogs is that they'll often eat everything that's available to them at that time, so it might be an idea to regulate that a little bit more? Overeating could honestly do more harm than good in the long run, and I hope that whatever happens, things go okay for you with her.
