Is it normal to have my faith and be gay?

I just want to know if there are others like me, i've met a few gay men and women who don't believe in god and some who believe in something greater but its not really god, they werent sure. I truly believe god sent his only son to die on the cross for our sin. My faith has gotten me through so much already but there are times i feel so conflicted because i read in the bible that who i am is wrong/sin/abomination.. if thats so why did i turn out this way..if he knows all and made me in his image.. idk and also ive witness his blessings towards me and my family.. i feel like im might be here for reason because there were several times that i should have died but didnt.. that has to mean something.. its a struggle having my faith and being told im going to burn for who i love.. i just wanna know if im the only one...

Is It Normal?

  • There are plenty of people faithful to god that are homosexual (The pope for one lol). At this point churches all over the place are raising rainbow flags, even the catholic church has your back. There are sinners far worse than you (theifs, murderers, adulterers) that pray for forgiveness, and remain faithful.

I assume you're more concerned with what god thinks of you, than what people do. God loves all his children. And he wants people to be free to make their own choices, and find him by making the right ones.

God gave us the impulse to do wrong, and the power to overcome it. From Adam, he never intended for us to be slaves to his rule. He told Adam, he'd die if he ate the fruit... what did he do. Ate the stupid fruit. God was betrayed, but never loved Adam any less for it. He gave him provisions and sent him on his way.

I don't think you should be terrified of being sent to hell for laying with other men. In the end it's your choice, what do you think you should do? I don't know if the solution for you is to live a life of celibacy. Or if you can be a god fearing man while being with other men. But if you're feeling lost, the best thing to do is ask god. Not strangers on the internet, not your pastor. Talk to god. Only he can show you the way.

    • Well I know that people are born gay so why would God create someone who's destined to spend eternity in hell? I know that if you truly accept God into your life then you aren't going to hell no matter what sexual orientation you are.

  • I know gay people who are religious and goes to Church every Sunday. They were accepted by other christians too. For example, in the Philippines, there are 92 percent religious people, however, most gay people are accepted and aren't discriminated from going to church every sunday and treated like normal people based on my observation. A famous gay person named Vice Ganda, an actor and comedian, are loved by the filipino people. He is also religious. Some of his movies are one of the highest grossing films and his ratings qq

  • its the Jew that condemns gay There is not a single Greek word or phrase in the entire New Testament that should be translated into English as “homosexual” or “homosexuality.” In fact, the very notion of “homosexuality”—like that of “heterosexuality,” “bisexuality,” and even “sexual orientation”—is essentially a modern concept that would simply have been unintelligible to the New Testament writers. The word “homosexuality” came into use only in the latter part of the nineteenth century, and, as New Testament scholar Victor Paul Furnish notes, it and related terms “presume an understanding of human sexuality that was possible only with the advent of modern psychological and sociological analysis.” In other words, “The ancient writers . . . were operating without the vaguest conception of what we have learned to call ‘sexual orientation’.”1 (In the rest of this article I shall use the terms “homosexual” and “homosexuality” strictly for the sake of convenience.)

  • You are normal and that is ok, but most traditional or conservative communities may still discriminate you. Jesus himself never condemned homosexuality, but Paul and some passages of the Old Testament did, and interpretations about these excerpts vary according to the believer, the community and denomination. More liberal Christian communities would have no problem in accepting you, and even individually, you can still keep your faith, though you may feel more comfortable after adapting it in order to better accept yourself. In terms of finding your place, there are thousand of liberal Christian communities around the world and online, and you could look for them in order to find other people like you. In any case, I wish you peace and good luck in your quest.

      • Thank you for giving me your insight. I personally just cant help but think it cant be that simple, cant be that black and white..There is a reason for everything. Im here and i am who i am and i cant change it, that has to mean something. He is in my heart and in my soul and i refuse to believe, that just because i can love a man like any straight man can love a woman, That i will burn and suffer. I guess we will find out when we die, ill be crossing my fingers that my hunch is right.

  • Yes. Being gay is not a sin in my opinion. I think that people are born gay so that God must have created you that way and why would he see something he created as a sin?

      • That is the word of Paul, though, and its interpretation is dependent on the believer or the community in question. It may be explained by some believers and communities as a cultural product of that age rather than of divine inspiration, and of course there are also Christians that accept only the Gospels as models, or not even the Goslpels, but only an ideal notion of Christ.

      • Please don't assume that I haven't! If you would've really read my response, I wrote "In my opinion ". Only God can judge and I don't believe (no matter what it says in the bible) that if you're homosexual, you're not going to Heaven. I firmly believe that you're born gay and God doesn't judge based on that. It's unreal how some people claim to be die hard Christians yet judge others by their race, sexuality, whatever it may be. It's a bunch of crap in my opinion.

        • i personally don't judge others by their race, sexuality, skin color, etc. i don't think hat people who are currently gay go straight to Hell. but what is true is that personal belief and understanding is less than the word of God. it is the whole truth and spoken word of God. i personally find some things in the Bible shocking and crazy but i am not one to go against the will of God. and about you saying people are born gay, i can agree to some extent. humans can adapt to their attraction to certain things and a gender at young ages but just remember that ever since Adam and Eve sinned for the first time, everyone else born are all cursed with sin and we all sin even at a very young age. being lesbian or gay is not unnatural just like the urge to kill someone might not be unnatural for some and the urge to have sex out of marriage is something almost everyone struggles with. it is just as much a sin and we shouldn't act on the temptations we get all the time just because there're "natural". God does judge those who bask in their sin, someone who lies and who steals and who is homosexual are all judged by God... i know i may seem like some ignorant freak but im just trying to share some perspective.. please tell me what you think about this because this is what i personally believe is true after studying for quite some time. sorry if i came off rude in the first comment btw.. God bless.

  • I completely understand what you mean and where your coming from. But know that the way you're feeling about being gay is a sin in the Bible. God wrote in it that it is a sin to be homosexual. No you are not a bad person and you're not going straight to hell but i really would advise you as a sister through Christ that you should really repent that sin like you would any other. It is very hard and conflicting because we are all born sinners in a dark world with confusing emotions that lead us to death and twist everything but you have to remember that in the Bible is says do not lean on your own understanding but lean on the knowledge and wisdom of Christ. We feel a lot of things that seem natural and uncontrollable but we need to remember that we are imperfect humans who have been separated from God through are sin but we can be freed by that with Jesus. I know it seems impossible and hard and that theres no way out of the feeling of loving a man and lusting after one but all things are truly possible through Jesus. just pray about it and repent it. I really suggest you read your word and gain knowledge. Just please start following Him today and obeying Him and His word. He will be so pleased to see your obedience and to let you into Heaven. i will pray for you too because i personally struggled with this and know it's a struggle. God bless you and best wishes.

  • Jesus was just a normal human. Belief that he was some kind of divine entity are absolute sci-fi nonsense. It's fair to believe the universe might know what's going on in some way, but all the father, son, virgin Mary stuff is patently bollocks. Heaven and hell are all in the mind. You won't be burning anywhere!
