Hey man. I actually used to experience this myself. Depending on how long your erection lasts, it could be the onset of a potentially dangerous medical condition known as priapism. If your erections are lasting more than a couple hours and are debilitatingly painful, you should see a doctor right away. If you let a priapism get too bad, they have to do bad things to fix it. Involving scalpels. Need I say more?
My priapisms were found to be caused by a medication I was taking, so for me it was as simple as changing up my med regimen. But you should talk to your doctor, because I don't know if meds are always the cause or if something else might be the problem.
