Is it normal to have a “girl crush” if you’re 100% straight?
So, like any individual, I have certain actors/celebrities/etc. that I like quite a bit. Yeah, some of them I like just for their acting skills, like Tom Hanks or Meryl Streep. But there are definitely some male actors that I would describe as being “celebrity crushes” (Chris Pratt, Leonardo DiCaprino, etc.). As a female myself, I feel like having male celebrity crushes is totally normal, but it’s less normal to have female celebrity crushes or “girl crushes”. Well, not that it’s not “normal”, but it’s that people always think it’s something sexual. The truth is, there are some female actresses that I like quite a but, and I would probably describe them as “girl crushes”, but by that I mean they seem like really cool people and I want to be, like, best friends with them or something. Like, it goes behind just realizing they’re good actresses. Honestly, I’d probably watch a movie they’re in even if it’s a shitty one just because I like them so much. But I don’t feel any sort of sexual attraction toward them like I would for some of my male celebrity crushes. Is this a normal thing?
Just to clarify, I don’t have anything against people having legitimate, sexual “girl crushes”, if that’s what you’re in to! No hate here; I promise :) I’m just wondering if, as a basically 100% (or maybe 95% tops, if you’re going for the Kinsey scale or something) straight woman, can anyone else relate?
