Is it normal to hate jewelry?

Since as long as I can remember, I've always hated jewelry, to the point that I can't stand touching it and don't like looking at it. I've even declined going out with girls because of it, as it disgust me to a really high level.
I don't know why I feel like this, I've never found an answer to that. I only like girls without any jewelry.

Is it normal? Are there people like me?

I wouldn’t say it’s normal but it’s quite understandable to an extent some people just seem to go overboard with jewelry

I personally find most jewelry to be pointless, but not dating someone because of it is a bit extreme.

Yet another post that has made me grateful that I fly solo. I am my own pilot, and navigator. My cat is my copilot.

Your comment is off topic. I don't care about your relationship status, I care about the question being answered.
And if you need jewelry to feel your "own pilot", you have serious issues. Bigger than mine.

I just happen to be happy, and grateful that I don't have to change a damn thing about myself to accommodate anyone else!

You have a very controlling, and demanding personality, it's unbecoming.

              Not controlling but demanding, yes.
Talking about what you're grateful for or your cat is totally off topic here.
Are you the kind of person that goes on and on about their life when asked a simple unrelated question??

Damn some kind of phobia? Not going out with people because of that is a bit much, most people wear at least a bit
And sometimes the jewellery means something
Like my friend wears the rings of her grandmothers and mine are gifts from people I hold dear
When it’s cheap stuff or too much real stuff alright, the consumerism
What do u do when ur girlfriend, who normally doesn’t wear jewellery, wants to wear it once in a while?

I usually manage to find a girl that doesn't wear jewelry and I state in the beginning our relationship that I hate it and that I'd like her no to wear some.
I don't care if it "means something", it doesn't change anything to me about the way I feel.
I don't understand the need or relevance to wear such ugly and useless things. Why would people do that? This is beyond what I can understand. This is irrationnal.
There's no purpose or gain. It's an hindrance.

A lot of women are going to find you way too controlling, I certainly would.

It's not about control, it's about disgust. I wouldn't wear something my girlfriend hate.

I don't think a person should force someone to change something about him, or herself to make someone else happy. I'm not saying you need to accept someone who does something that grosses you out either.

I just your distaste for jewelry on others is a bit extreme perhaps.

There's no "forcing". You just state things in the beginning of a relationship. Jewelry is not something about "you" or "yourself". It's something you add. You're not born with it nor need it for any reason.
Would you like a guy wearing poop on his head? It's the same thing for me.

I find humans themselves ugly and the rings make my weird Fingers prettier;D
Now I don’t hate them that much anymore
The things is, it is art, like fashion for some
It is art that you wear and art is, in many peoples eyes, not useful
But it is, without art we’d all sit in a dark deep hole without light

It's not that I care, it's that I can't stand it, nor even touch it. And I don't know why. I've tried to find out thought but to no avail.
It's like really disgusting to me.

        what about a wedding ring?

        • DIO

I don't see the point of a wedding ring... If you need a ring to remember the person you love, then you don't love that person as much as you think...
And rings can lead to degloving. Trust me, you don't want that.
But rings are maybe the less disgusting things in jewelry to me.

I'm not real big on jewelry, but I don't hate it as much as you. However, a wedding ring is really, the only exception because it's to show I'm off the market and the same for my spouse, so nobody tries to go there.
