Is it normal to give your money away to a strangrr?

So if i have spare cash i give it to the cashier and say to use it to pay for the next meal. It makes me feel extreamly happy that i probably just lifted up the spirits of a random stranger. It usualy is like 5-10 dollars. Does anyone else do that?
