Is it normal to get headaches when getting 8 hours of sleep

Whenever I get 8 or more hours of sleep (The average needed to function throughout the day) I get a severe headache. I got 8 hours of sleep this morning and ive been awake for 2 hours and i STILL have a headache. This never happens if i get 7 or less ours of sleep. This normal?

Yeah this is completely normal because your headache might not be caused from sleep it could be caused from dehydration or sinus pressure pretty much anything. the head is a crazy thing.

Many comments already mention hydration, so I’ll just add blood sugar: make sure to have some complex carbs or protein to tide you through!

Perhaps your body is better with 7 hours.

I can suffer from this too, I cured it by always drinking a pint of water before bed and take another one in the bedroom which I drink when I wake up.

    It's not uncommon.

There's a list of various possible causes here: https://www.healthline.com/health/headache/early-morning-headaches

But it could be something much more benign and much more easily solved.

Try making it a habit to drink a large glass of water as soon as you get up, and see if that helps. We all lose water overnight, some from sweat and some from exhaling water vapour. So, even if you go to bed properly hydrated, after eight hours of lying there and breathing, you can wake up dehydrated, and headaches are a symptom of dehydration.

In fact, try drinking a large glass of water first every time you get a headache rather than automatically reaching for a pill. I started doing this after seeing a doctor on UK TV suggest it, and I've found it often helps. It won't help with sinus, tension or other types of headaches, but I've been surprised by how often it does work.
