Is it normal to find game programming not fun?

I've read that many other people enjoy programming, but I don't. I get fun when I do something new like make a chess AI / implement a pathfinding algorithm, but the actual game development feels boring and I have to force myself to do it.

Is It Normal?

    Well I never did programming. I did however do 3D animation and I did horribly.

    So why did you choose that job?
    I like Direct3D programming though under C/C++

    I hate programming to all though the only programming I ever did was on game maker and to make a minecraft mod both were unusable
    Thanks again crappy graphics and faulty pathway links
    Im in it for the end result
