Is it normal to feel so awkward reading something that you just stop?

I do this sometimes when i read a book that has a really bad scene in it when you know that character just did something really stupid and know something awkward is going to happen and just have to stop reading it for a bit? Most of the time i start reading it again but once i just stopped reading altogether. One example is when a character had been pretending to be someone he was not online and hitting on a friend who was much older then him and going to meat the friend at a party saying he was that person and meeting the friend who thought he would be the fake person.. this just bothered me so much that i couldn't continue the book. I don't think this is very normal maybe i just get to involved in books. IIN?

    I've never done it while reading, but I do it with TV or movies. For example, it was SO hard and it made me feel embarrassed to watch The Roast of Donald Trump with Mike "The Situation" on it. He was soooo terrible at comedy and just completely train wrecked the whole thing. Painful to watch, I had to fast-forward because I felt humiliated for him.

    I do this all the time. If it is a movie or tv show I run out of the room then run back in like a minute later.

    its the same with me but with movies. when i see some character being in very awkward situation i can feel like i did it and try to hide from it by moving my eyes from it or closing it.

    The Office (first few seasons and the Orginal one) makes me so uncomfortable I leave the room.

    I do this alot during shows. Usually I'll just turn the channel until the scene changes but in books I'll just try and skim that section over really fast. No reason to put down a book you've already invested your time in.

    wow its all just fantasy. how are you going to handle the real world if you cant handle a story from a book. yes i think you are too involved in books.
