Is it normal to exercise and gain weight?

Ok so everytime I try dieting and exercising I usually do real good and lose weight the first couple days and then I stop, I stop losing weight for about a week and then I gain weight and I end up getting discouraged and end up quitting my exercising so I stop gaining weight, my husband says it's normal to gain weight because it's me building muscle. is it normal to gain weight?

Worry about health not weight. If you eat healthy and workout in time it will come naturally.

Muscle gain is bullshit! yes you gain muscle and yes muscle is heavier in fat.

but know this, professional bodybuilders that eat 6000kcals a day and take steroids can only gain 1 pound of muscle a month...

Stop "dieting" and just eat healthy and exercise. The number on the scale will not matter.

It's true, muscle makes you gain weight, but it's healthy weight.
But, know this: Diets don't work. Diets are a myth, if you stop eating you begin starving and your body forces you to eat and gaining weight. I don't really know the reasons diets don't work, but they don't and you can find online why.

Yeah the same thing has been happening to me. I'm toning nicely but not losing any weight...

don't worry about your weight, worry about how you feel. are you comfortable with your body? do you like the way you look? muscle weighs more than fat, and if you are gaining muscle mass that's a good thing. you should try HIIT, high intensity interval training, if you're worried about looking too muscular. it makes your body lean and you don't gain a whole bunch of muscle.

your husband is right... muscle weighs more than fat but eating is a good point here though.... if you are depriving yourself of food your body goes into starvation mode and then sucks every possible calorie out of food and lowers your metabalism.... eat several small meals a day to keep your metabolic rate up and try getting a scale that measures your bmi to.... normal percentile for women is 18 to 26 body fat... ps good luck

That is muscle gain most likely, but be careful about dieting. If you've just switched to eating healthier foods thats great, but if you're eating significantly less food and start to gain more it's because you caved
