Is it normal to dream constantly when i fall asleep until i wake up?

I dream every night, but literally for the whole time I'm asleep. When I close my eyes and fall asleep, I immediately start dreaming, and that dream will last for the 8 or so hours I'm asleep, and so I really struggle to keep track of what day it is because to me, there is no noticeable gap in my consciousness when I go asleep and so it's almost like I'm awake 24/7 (even though I'm not, if you get what I mean??) it just feels like I fall asleep and get transported to another world where I live for 8 hours before waking up

If that is truly how sleep works for you, then you're extremely unusual, and you're possibly not as healthy as you might be.

Non-REM sleep - the deep stages of sleep when we don't dream - is important for building new tissue, repairing damage, and replenishing the immune system.

In any case, I don't understand how you can be certain that you dream for eight hours every night. When we're unconscious, we're not aware of time passing, and you can't rely on your perception of time in recalled dreams.

I think the only way you can possibly be sure that you're in REM sleep all night is if someone else monitored your eye movements through the night.

Yep, I don't believe OP is really dreaming all night but I do think it would be a good idea for her/him to check out sleep clinics where sleep is monitored.

You may think you are, but you're really not.
