Is it normal to doubt your own sanity?

Ok. I'm a twenty year old male. I seem fairly normal by all appearances but I seriously have some messed up thoughts every so often. Also, I have practically no emotions.

These two things sometimes cause me to doubt whether I'm sane or not sometimes. INN to do this?

If it worries you, you're fine. Crazies don't know they're crazy.

That's not always true. Some people have been able to realize that there was something wrong, before the condition became too severe.

I think a lot of people lack emotional stunted and have strange thoughts but don't like to admit it to themselves or others. I wasn't fully reacquainted with my humanity until after I dropped out of school and lost my father. As long as you believe those thoughts should die with you and not harm the real world, I'd say you're fairly sane. I think the issue is that one, you might not have enough human contact, like making real connections, and you may also let your mind wander too far and maybe too often. It's healthy to keep in the present happening reality and also, Ne-er do dwell, has some interesting thoughts, but don't take him TOO seriously. I sometimes felt that I had no true identity and I assigned myself to things that only describe a small aspect of myself but may overwhelm me. Focus on what you like about yourself, and try to shed what you don't.

lol I feel the same way about myself sometimes. It's like I'm so wicked, or just plain weird that I tend to doubt my sanity. Don't worry, it happens to all of us. And if you are questioning your sanity, then probably you are somewhat sane. :)

I don't think you'd be capable to think about that!

Many people might feel this way in some point in their lives. The longer you live, the more you start to see, that actually, many of those previously normal people have some weird thing to them. “Every normal person, in fact, is only normal on the average. His ego approximates to that of the psychotic in some part or other and to a greater or lesser extent.” - Sigmund Freud
