Is it normal to climb up trees?

Everytime when I go to the park at climb up trees despite people stare at me for doing so.

I know that to climb up the correct shoes are needed but I can climb them up easily.

Is it a normal hobby?

Yes. Not as popular as it once was because people are paranoid and don't know how to be in nature. But you're good. Climb away.

It's fine. (I'm assuming you are an adult who is reasonably cautious and know your limits)

If people stare and think you're weird then so what. They are probably secretly jealous that they don't have the physical stamina and cheerful abandon to do what you do.

I wish I had the upper body strength to do that again. My parents had this half century oak in the front yard. Good climbing material.

Oaks are the supreme climbing tree in my opinion, I like how on some of the big ones their long branches will naturally curve downwards to allow me access.

The only oaks that I climb around these days are dead ones that need chopping for free firewood.

Theres one I would have to say at LEAST a hundred years old. Tried counting the rings only to get past 90 at 2/3rds of the tree. Behemoth of an oak so large that we have no idea how to even process the trunk. Nearly every branch was large log material. We got enough wood from it to blaze a bon fire nearly every day of summer, and fall. And still have several cords of wood left. (And even more firewood from the 6 poor trees that oak took down with it when it fell during a storm)

I don't know who Brad Gobright is, but according to Wikipedia he was a climber who was born in 1988 and died not to long ago ( c. 2019 ), I ain't that dumb to have the same fate as he did ( not saying that in a bad way ).

In short what you are probably assuming have_a_good_day is that I am endangering myself.

Even though I like it like I said its not going to hurt me much.

And I get that you said being smart or dumb has no correlation to fate.

Also I respect your opinion even if it is weird.

I could never do it as a kid. Weird I could do it years later.

It's okay, it even fits if you're looking for better phone reception.

Same but I go on swings and slides and at playgrounds as well. It’s still fun, even as an adult.

I’ll admit I did this a few weeks ago, I was in a park with no kids around and apparently children are getting taller because there was a swing with a back that my 5”8 self fit perfectly into.
