Is it normal to believe in a faith i made up myslef?

So that's the basics. I've been to at least nine different churches in my life, all however were branches of Christianity, and not a single one strikes me as just right. Everyone I've ever spoke to about finding faith says I need to find something that feels just right, even if it's something like Satanism(which it isn't). So I thought to myself: "What would be just right?". and so I thought it, now I have my heart held close to those Gods I made. Is that normal?

All religious faiths are made up, so why shouldn't you create one that makes sense to you?

If what you're thinking of was all that unusual, there wouldn't already be a ten dollar word for it: syncretism.

Just be prepared for some people who belong to a particular religious club to say you can't pick and choose, and you have to be a good little sheep in one flock or another if you don't want to burn in hell for all eternity.

We are free to do anything since we have a sense of individualty. No one can control you or your religion, so choose what you want. There isn't any restrictions so go wild.

I actually made my own holy book with its own rules and gods its something I follow strictly.

they are easy simple rules and they aren't impossible my gods for the most part are indifferent to what I do unless they feel like caring.

made my holy book at fifteen and I usually add stuff to it if I have noting to do now at 24.

Oh yeah shit that was me. Sorry for the late response homie. So anyway most of it's just creation nonsense and stories I like to think about, so I'll just give you the basic shit.

          Reincarnation is real.
Evil is punished and Good is rewarded
Our souls retain our lessons from the past in some way.
There is an ultimate God, but it doesn't really care.
We have three judgmental beings that put us in our places upon death.
Everything is subjective, making the laws of right and wrong more localized than overall.
Not all beings, or even people, will share the same system of afterlife.
Only actions are judged in the end.

and that's basically it. But like a few posts above I said this changes with time. But I really hope it doesn't.

Why do you need to choose an ideological religion? The shamans of old used psychedelic substances to communicate with god. Why not try that?

Cuz I swore to my parents I would never do drugs. So what I hold onto promises that I made when I was six shut the HECK up. I don't hold any of my beliefs very strongly, and that's kinda what I like about it. It's growing and changing with me, and I can meme my friends who are members of orthodox faiths.

I'm not talking about drugs. Psychedelics are holy sacraments in some cultures. I appreciate your right to believe what you want, but all I'm saying is that it's silly to just choose a prepackaged religion when you can form your own opinions about god. There can only be one actual true reality about it, and thinking that there's one religion that got it right and all the others are wrong is just silly.

Oh dude I'm sorry! Seriously, I didn't mean to make you think that. That's kinda what drove me away from Christianity, the thinking only one way can be right thing. I just like to think that all existing things came about in a way I imagined, and that the rulers or guides that sit on the clouds above are things that I made and agree with. I will never deny another's perspective though, that's actually what I really like about a loose belief. And I don't use psychedelics because of my Grandma, who would actual lynch me if I dared take anything more mind altering than coffee.

I was getting into this on another topic on here, I absolutely believe that the universe has consciousness and people have picked up on it and tried to find ways to describe it forever. You can pick up on its existence before or without giving yourself up to faith in an ideology.

Religions are TV dinners. You have the one with chicken and beans, the one with steak and potatoes, fish and macaroni, etc. If you want chicken and macaroni most people won't make both and pick the parts that they like, they pick whatever sounds like the best package and take it for everything that it comes with. Religious people are like that. You're supposed to open your mind just enough to believe their explanations about things and then close it to any troublesome questions that might come up along the way.

I normally encourage drug use on here, psychedelics are an incredible way of contacting the universal consciousness through the aether or whatever you want to call it, though if its offensive to you morally I wouldn't recommend it.

It dosen't bother me exactly, I just don't want my friends or family to think poorly of me, cuz most of them completely discourage any form of drug even if its not really a drug. But yeah what I did was sit on a rock beach a little way outa my town, next to really pretty beach grass and just wrote down whatever sounded cool as I thought about it. And I like to tell stories to myself so that's how I've come about what I believe.
